Great place for relaxing with kids and seeing amazing wildlife.

We are experienced travellers and when comparing this resort with other 5 star places we definitely felt it fell well below the standards you would expect from the a top rated resort. The villa with the private pool was specious and comfortable. The tv worked well but the WiFi was inconsistent (we understand this is due to the telecom provider and not the resort's fault). The day safari we booked was pleasant and both our driver and guide did a very good job.

− We were extremely frustrated that our request to get information about activities and prices were ignored several times. We were deliberately sent the wrong information (a PDF brochure of the resort) or ignored several times. When challenging the front desk staff and manager, we got served 2 very different stories. The restaurant was inconsistent, some days only a la carte was available. The restaurant did NOT inform the guests of this change. In such days the staff were totally out of their depth, poorly trained, and unable to deal with the orders, which was very unsatisfactory because the resort was pretty much empty (many travellers had cancelled because of the Iran war). The first day the chicken dishes had little meat and were mostly bones and cartilage. After reporting this to the manager, we were pleased with the improvement and the chicken was meaty. When a buffet is served, the meal time only starts at 8pm, quite late and not good enough for a resort of such a reputation. when ordering a la carte some items were not available on the menu, both food and drinks too. The room does not come with basic necessities: housekeeping is done everyday but no new toiletry is provided which is a problem when you stay several days. The room has no information book: we had no idea on how to connect to WiFi, no instructions on using the safe (annoyingly we had to call front desk twice to get someone). The room did not have swimming towels which you would expect since the villas have private pools (only white bathroom towels).

We were upgraded to a villa with private pool. The bed was very comfortable and we loved the spa bath. Food was good. The safari guide was great and we really enjoyed our boat trip and jeep tour. We enjoyed the cultural dance session, it was fun joining in!

− There were various issues with the WiFi, the door not locking and splinters in the floorboards. We found communication with the older manager to get things resolved and to book our tours quite a challenge. It's a nice resort but it needs a bit of renovation.

We had a comfortable relaxed stay enjoying the company of the helpful friendly staff.

The staff are marvellous. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They are attentive without being intrusive.

− Some more attention to maintenance. Some of the pool tiles are missing.

An amazing location with large wildlife on the doorstep, and wonderfully hospitable and friendly hotel staff.

Location, staff, and relaxing feel, with provision for canoe, jeep, and walking safaris, along for cultural trips and entertainment if desired.

− Servicing and pool maintenance could do with some attention to enhance the overall experience and provide peace of mind that it’s fully safe to use.
