Very disappointing stay with poor heating and cleanliness

1.0

We paid £175 per night for this accommodation but experienced multiple issues that made the stay unacceptable. On the first night , the main bedroom heating was not functioning, resulting in an uncomfortably cold room. The host was informed immediately but refused to address the issue or arrange a repair for the following day. I subsequently reported the problem to Booking.com. The bedroom window was thin and provided poor insulation, and the main bedroom door could not close properly, which further worsened the cold conditions. The property’s cleanliness was below standard. A full basket of empty glass bottles was left at the entrance, the sofa was stained, and the kitchenware was old and worn. Only one garbage bag was provided for a three-night booking, with no dishwashing liquid and only low quality Costco branded cleaning products. In addition, the location was noisy, ventilation was inadequate, and the host was uncooperative throughout the stay. Given these conditions, the accommodation was not suitable for continued occupancy. I informed the host that I would be checking out early.

Very disappointing stay. Far below expectations for the price

1.0

We paid nearly £170 per night, but the overall experience was extremely disappointing and not worth the money. 1. Poor living conditions • The heating in the main bedroom didn’t work on the first night. The window was thin and not sealed properly, and the main bedroom door couldn’t close completely. We were literally woken up by the cold at midnight. • The bedding was of very poor quality – the duvet was made of synthetic fibre and the cover looked yellowish and old. • The house had almost no ventilation, yet several strong-scented aroma diffusers were placed in the rooms. The mixed artificial smells made the air thick and unpleasant. 2. Poor hygiene and outdated facilities • The cleanliness was unacceptable. A pile of empty glass bottles was left at the entrance, and the sofa was stained. • Kitchen utensils were old, disorganised, and randomly placed. There were many half-opened disposable utensils in the drawers, which didn’t look hygienic. • There was only one garbage bag provided for the entire stay. We stayed for three nights and had no new bags to replace, so we couldn’t properly dispose of our trash. • There was no dishwashing liquid provided. • Unlike other serviced apartments that usually offer good-quality laundry and cleaning products such as Persil capsules or Fairy dishwasher tablets, this place only provided cheap Costco-brand washing capsules and dishwasher tablets, which looked unprofessional and out of place for the price we paid. • The windows were not soundproof and let in a lot of street noise. The main bedroom door was also difficult to close. 3. Unpleasant environment • The location was disappointing. It’s in an Indian neighbourhood area ; loud Indian music played from across the street late into the night. Combined with the poor sound insulation, sleeping was nearly impossible. • There is a petrol station and factories nearby, and we even saw homeless people wandering around the area at night. 4.

Conveniently located stay in Southampton

8.0

Clean, nice and spacious, newly renovated and nicely decorated, conveniently located close to Southampton sites, very nice, attentive and quick-reacting host, parking on site, close to restaurants and convenience store. Bottle of wine and chips were a very good touch.

The area wasn’t our favorite, the mattresses were too soft for our taste and there was no air conditioning. It got very hot at night, where the fans were not enough (it’s important to mention there was a heat wave - maybe it would have been fine otherwise). There was an underlying mold smell in the first floor and in the bathroom. There was also an issue in the bathroom, but the host was very quick to offer to fix it.
