amazing location but the house desperately needs updates and a deep clean
4.0Great location by the river with parking for two. Beautiful old house.
− Unfortunately the house is in need of a deep clean and a lot of love.
Guest review
6.0Central to Shrewsbury and in a very atractive location close to the river..
− There was a general shabbiness inside the property.. The furnishings were very old, but saying that, the beds were comfortable and the bed linens were clean..

1.0The location
− When arriving it took forty minutes of frantic phone calls to the property owner and booking.com to obtain the keysafe number, each blaming the other for not sending it to us. Once entering the house my husband had to clean the grill plate and a frying pan filled with dirty grease, the rest of the house was extremely dusty, the fireplace in the dining room hadn't been cleaned in months, we could actually write in the dust, window sills were full of insects, live and dead ones. There were cobwebs in every corner of each room. The chairs in the dining room were really uncomfortable as was the sofa, all you felt when sat on the sofa was wood blocks. The booking was for six adults so you would expect six of everything, especially in the kitchen cutlery drawer, but there was only five. On Saturday evening, my husband sat on the bed and it collapsed, we took the mattress off to find two of the slats were being held to the frame by plastic bags and there had been a previous break and had several nails in it, photos of the damage was sent to the owner, the reply was "there was no way we've done this with plastic bags, am assuming a previous guest" only to then see a review from February reporting the single beds needed repairing. The description of the house was way off the mark, there is no view to the river from the non-existent garden. When we moved the sofa in the lounge all we saw was dirt and dust from a Christmas tree, the house needs a dam good thorough clean from top to bottom. There is no ensuite as stated in the description either, what there is, is a sink and toilet in one of the double bedrooms, but the door is locked so it can't be used.
Mixed as we had problems but loved Shrewsbury
7.0Spacious and in a great location
− Very difficult to control water temperature in the shower . Unfortunately we had an infestation of flying ants that left their nest one night . Was horrifying but aware you can’t control nature, we were supplied with powder and traps the next day but every morning we always had a few but nothing compared to that one evening .
