Just so disappointed couldn't wait to leave.

We are so sorry to leave a poor review as Kevin is such a lovely man, and is probably very proud of his site. but the whole experience at Penlee Caravan and Hawkins Battery was just so disappointing, The caravan was really dated and had an unpleasant odour, generally the facilities were really poor and just lacking any expense spent. the main seating in the lounge seemed to have a smell and the cushions thin and stained, all curtains too small for the windows, there was a small fridge with the door not closing properly and held shut with a bottle of water ! and the freezer compartment fitted with a bolt to keep it shut. it was around 30 degrees and we asked if he had Fans, he said he didn't provide them, so we had to go out and buy our own fans as it was so boiling hot day and night. My husband and I cannot sleep in the same bed so I slept in the single bed but the mattress was just awful and impossible to sleep on, I could feel every spring and didn't sleep at all, I tried sleeping on the lounge on the L shaped settee but the cushions were so thin I could feel the hardboard underneath, so we had to go out and buy an airbed to put up in the lounge every night, which was not ideal. Lovely views from the decking if you can ignore the caravan and junk just a few feet away. The main double bed was comfortable enough and the towels and bedding were okay, but that is about the only positive thing I can say.

− The outside furniture was awful, everything had to be washed down before we could use it, all the cushions for the outside were stained and had spiders and snails on them, the plastic rattan type seats were all flaking and sharp bits sticking in your back, and the picnic bench !! disgusting ! full of moss and grime, you wouldn't sit on it never mind eat there. around and under the caravan there were weeds and junk everywhere. The outside area around the caravan generally was just terrible, it resembled a junk yard with old caravans and piles of junk all over the place, I don't think Kevin realises what it looks like to his guests. it's just not a nice area to sit and sunbathe or relax. I have put some pictures of the area surrounding our caravan for reference.

Enjoyable but don't rely on the wifi (and mobile data is spotty)

Amazing location and views. Friendly staff

− Wifi would only work with Apple devices. Wifi did not work on Android devices. Only random websites on my laptop would load. Only told about this at check-in; would have booked somewhere else if I had known in advance.

Lovely unspoilt spot - woukd stay here again .

Beautiful & interesting location with fantastic views . Quiet and peaceful . Loved being surrounded by hedges trees and wildlife . Nice caravan well equipped with everything I needed .

The location and view is amazing. Very peaceful. We stayed in Penlee. The view from here is amazing.

− The beds were old and uncomfortable. We had to leave a day earlier as the kids' mattresses were so bad. The bedding was poor, and the towels were very worn. Outdoor furniture is very scruffy.

Loved the view from the caravan. Beautiful spot.

Location had a spectacular view. Staff showed us short cut to get to nearby town. Very approachable.

− Needed to walk everywhere, a bus timetable, taxi number would have been helpful.
