A tranquil & beautiful farm stay in a unique, elegant, clean room with kitchen run by friendly farmers & minutes

10.0

A spotless, well-appointed and easy place to stay on a beautiful farm but minutes away from the bustle of Harrogate, Knaresborough and the amazing UNESCO Heritage Fountains Abbey. From taking the slow drive down the farm track past sheep and cattle and fields of grass feed, we relaxed as the only guests and enjoyed the simple welcome pack offering flapjacks and freshly laid eggs and more. The bed is large and comfortable, the bathroom excellent and the kitchen has all you need to prepare meals or for just making breakfast before taking it to sit in the private T garden to soak in the field view beyond the gentle beck (stream). Alex was engaging, answering our questions about running their farm and the animal welfare they passionately provide, as well as offering us astute local recommendations. We will be back.

That we had to leave…

A true country retreat with every modern convenience

10.0

Feeling refreshed and relaxed after the most wonderful weekend at Ewe Stay - the ideal spot for those looking for a countryside retreat with all the modern conveniences of five-star accommodation. After checking in and unpacking, I decided to have a ‘little lie down’, only to wake up at nearly 10pm! That’s how cosy and comfortable the enormous bed is with sumptuous ‘cloud’ bedding. Harrogate is a short drive away, but we decided to spend the entire time on the farm instead - picking up food supplies so we didn’t need to head out. The well-appointed kitchen had everything needed to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner - including a top-of-the-range hob and oven, microwave and fridge, as well as plates, pots, pans and cutlery. The smart TV was great for logging on to YouTube, with a comfy couch for relaxing. The power shower was also very welcome after hiking to nearby Stainburn Forest, which has a trail through the trees and can be reached on foot along the A road. I would especially like to thank the hosts, who were warm, friendly and helpful during our stay. The welcome tray with fresh eggs (the best we have ever tasted!) was a lovely touch. The farm dogs were very friendly too, and well behaved with close supervision from the owners. A moment of pure bliss: feeling cosy indoors with the window open - listening to the rain bouncing on the barn roof… heaven!

Nothing not to like! This is a working farm, so you can expect to see and hear people and animals during your stay - something we personally loved, adding to the countryside charm.

Alex and her family were lovely, Welcome gifts of free range eggs and home made flap Jack's and some other goodies. Amazing use of space and all fittings and equipment is to a high standard. We even got given a early check in and late check out. If your looking for the gateway to the dales then " ewe stay " is the place for u

Ewe Stay is a working farm with machinery and a little noise that didn't impact us at all. This is no reflection on the accommodation as it was spotless. But We both did get bitten by horse flies whilst walking outside. So just cover up if your outside.
