Excellent - couldn't have asked for more!

10.0

The house was superbly fitted out and the beds were both large and comfortable. The location was superb, quite literally just off the main square and main street. It was a bonus too that the carnival was on the Saturday plus the weather was glorious - we only found out about the carnival from a sign about 5 miles out of Buxton on the way there. Despite the fair being on the main square, the house was well soundproofed and the house was so peaceful. The people of Buxton are really accommodating and we were welcomed everywhere we went - we were even invited to participate in a BBQ between some locals on the Sunday - 10/10 for every aspect of this trip! And a big Thank You to Mark for being so helpful.

Having to drive home ;-)

Nice house, highly recommended.

The house was clean comfortable and well equipped. Excellent wi-fi, good shower. The introductory instructions from the owner were first class. Parking was a bit of a problem but we knew that anyway. We managed to park in an adjacent road within 50 yards of the property.

Can't think of anything.

Great central location, reasonably-priced, spacious property

9.0

Location was great. Rooms, especially bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Had no issues whatsoever. Host was great in that I received several emails explaining access and facilities.

There are a series of welcome packs and I requested the ‘beer’ one. Instead, got biscuits. Was also informed that a list of local restaurants etc would be left for us but this was nowhere to be seen. That said, I’m an old hand at finding the best so in the end was of no major importance. The premises more than made up for any shortcomings.

Satisfactory but felt unfinished. Needs redecorating and a deep clean.

The location is okay although there is very limited parking anywhere close. Be prepared to hunt for a parking space and it may be several streets away.

We opted for the 'Butches pack' as a welcome basket. They looked like part of a pack of supermarket sausage and bacon with a couple of eggs. These were not sealed or dated or nice looking. As we did not know who had handled the meat, where it was from, or indeed how old it was, we chose not to eat it. There is a local butchers just around the corned where we purchased our own bacon, sausage etc. Such a shame that the 'butchers pack' did not come from a local butcher. When we arrived, the fireplace did not work. We reported this to the host, and in fairness, someone came to the property to fix it. The concern came when the fix was done by jabbing a kitchen knife into the workings until the lighting mechanism worked. With no Co2 or smoke sensor in the room and the lack of any gas certificate, we chose to play safe and didn't use it. We were frustrated that the gas combi boiler has been installed in the lounge since the photos were taken. Having the boiler constantly clicking on and off while trying to relax was an unwelcome distraction. The property was lacking up to date smoke and Co2 sensors, there was no fire blanket or fire extinguisher. I thought these were compulsory for a rental? While the big TV was modern and had all platforms available, the trailing leads were a poor addition to the scene. This was the same in the bedroom, giving a feeling that the property had been rushed and poorly thought through. The property was described as 'refurbished' which I think is is a bit on an overstatement. The property has been updated but is far from a refurbishment. The kitchen had been altered but then roughly screwed back together which again made the finish look rushed. The bathroom had been updated but with no attention to the finish. The shower had good pressure but was not re-tiled. New shower valve but an old rust mirror. Again, updated, not refurbished.

A super central comfortable location for exploring Buxton.

It was very clean and extremely comfortable. Great location next to the centre of Buxton. Well decorated with all essentials included. The big TVs are a massive bonus and a beautiful welcome pack on arrival made us feel very welcome.

Fabulous few days away in a modern cosy house.

The property was warm clean and cosy, had everything you would need for self catering. Beds were very comfy and the bathroom was lovely. Excellent location and on street parking wasn’t a problem. Excellent communication right from the start. Lovely welcome pack of breakfast products and had the bonus of an early check in!
