One of the best home stay / guest house experiences I have ever had. The hostess Bana is very kind, accommodating and would cook both delicious lunch, dinner and breakfast if the guests wished. The room was very clean and cozy, the surrounding views in the valley grand and beautiful and the atmosphere in the village very serene and friendly.

Excellent stop for Peaks of the Balkans or a quiet stay

Nothing but positive things to say! Bana is incredibly welcoming, accommodating and friendly! As a stop along the Peaks of the Balkans hike, or a place to relax for a couple days it is fantastic! The breakfast was the best on our hike, as it was a welcome change from the standard bread, cucumber, tomato, and cheese! Highly recommend, thanks to Bana.

Vusanje is a hidden secret.

I could already get into the room at 11:30 after I had finished my hike from Cerem to Vusanje quite early. Like many accomodations in the region also here they manage to keep the temperature within the house and the rooms very low, even with 30+ degrees outside. Only the new wodden triangle homes don't make it. But such a stone building here does. The dinner, the lunch pack and the drinks were good everything I needed and for a fair price. The Theth-Valbona hike is advertised very much, but I can say the the Vusanje-Theth hike is even much more beautiful. Also Vusanje (waterfall Grlja, blue eye Oko Skakavice, restaurant) and Theth (bathing in the river, restaurant, mini market) have both more to offer then Valbone. Vusanje or Vuthaj is also mostly an Albanian town in Montenegro. But with a country border in between (even transfer Vusanje-Theth is only half the time than Valbona-Theth) on the first look it is probably more complicated to promote this. Also Montenegro is a tourism country and has many other spots they promote first (Durmitor, Kotor, Budva, ...) than a hike that even leaves some of the value generation in another country like Albania. But I can only recommend the most beautiful hike from Vusanje to Theth and also to stay in Sofia guesthouse.

Lovely host and best stay in vusanje

Bana is the most wonderful host. She is kind and attentive, this truly feels like a family home. The food was delicious well priced and filling, the location is perfect for the peak of the Balkans trail. The rooms are simple, comfortable and very clean. Highly recommend.

Second stay, same warmth, and definitely not my last.

This was my second stay with Bana on the same trip, and it was the same warmth and welcome as the first time. She even gave me the same room since she knew I’d liked it, which was such a thoughtful touch. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Felt like staying with family, not a guest house. The kindest host in Gusinji.

Staying at Bana’s place didn’t feel like a guest house, it felt like staying with family. When I arrived she picked me up from the bus station herself and had several cold drinks ready so I could pick whatever I wanted after the long trip. I’d only booked a single bed but she gave me a whole private room, which she does for everyone whenever she has space. The room was super comfortable, the bed and pillow especially, and there’s a luggage storage room too. She cooked fresh, delicious food for me every single day, no matter what time I showed up, and introduced me to her family so we’d all sit togetherand talk and eating fresh fruits. When I needed a taxi to Prokletije she arranged one through her contacts at around 40% below the normal price. On my last day she even drove me back to the bus station and woke up at dawn to make sure I caught my early bus. If you’re hiking in Gusinji, you won’t find anywhere better or anyone kinder.
