10.0We stayed here three nights and enjoyed every single one! The hike trails were great and the views amazing. Its a great place to visit Sossusvlei and then travel on to Swakopmund. The hosts were outstanding and provided us with absolutely everything before we even asked. Plan at least two nights here and enjoy the peace and quiet!

− I planned a trip 24hours before I traveled, to go and view the SANDHOF lilies, they only bloom when it rains in the desert. the announcement was made 25/3/2025 that the gates will open 26/3 and close 30/3/2025. Sandhof farm is situated approximately 40km from Maltahohe. I searched on Bookings.com for accommodation close to Maltahohe. the attached photos will show the result. It Showed 0.7km from town center, I made the booking because then I can travel on the 28/3 and 29/3 to Sandhof to photograph the lilies with different light settings. this was a Bucket list item me and my husband had, he Passed away March 2024. So I decided to do the trip solo. The total fee was deducted immediately from my account. I arrived flew in hired a 4x4 and traveled to Maltahohe on 28/3, arrived at about 16h00, the electricity was down with no cell phone receiption. I filled up with fuel and drove to Sandhof for sundown lily photos. At 19h00 I got back to town, phones was working again and I put the Zebra lodge location in - Google MAPS indicated the lodge was 108km away from town. I phoned the lodge to tell them I will arrive late, and there seems to be a terrible mistake with the Bookings.com description. I had to travel on a D - District road, which is a gravel/dirt road with loads of low water Mudd obstacles, luckily I do have 4x4 driving experience, but it was hair-raising traveling all alone as a woman on that road with no cell phone receiption. I only arrived past 21h00, by then the plate of food was dried out after being kept in the oven for hours. I was booked for 2 nights but decided to alter my trip, I just not had the gutts to drive that road alone again the next day to photograph the lilies - 321km additional round trip, which only would have been 110km were they actually situated in Maltahohe, as indicated on Bookings.com. The lodge did not even offer to reimburse a partial amount of the full amount already paid.
