Via Casanova, Ravello, IT
Apartment with a lovely balcony close to the centre of Ravello (but very challenging to access)
5.0The accommodation is situated close to the centre of Ravello (about 15 minutes' walk) and it is well-connected to other towns on the Amalfi Coast by way of a bus stop (also about 15 minutes' walk). The balcony has a wonderful view of the ocean, as well as the towns of Minori and Maiori.
− Unfortunately, we were left disappointed with the accessibility of the accommodation and its amenities. To access the accommodation, you need to descend many small and narrow steps. This is especially difficult if you have luggage with you. To get to Ravello from the accommodation, you need to ascend those same steps, which is also a challenging walk, even without luggage. Unless you are young and/or very fit, this accommodation is simply not accessible. The wifi in the accommodation did not work and there is very limited cellphone reception. We found the inside of the accommodation rather unclean, as it was quite dusty and cluttered. Our hosts were friendly, and they did their best to help us. For example, we were sent helpful instructions for finding the accommodation before check-in, and the host who met us at the accommodation carried one of our bags down the many steps. However, it was very difficult to communicate with the host who met us at the accommodation as he did not speak English, which is not uncommon in Italy and normally not an issue at all, but unlike other hosts that we had encountered, he made no arrangements to bridge the language gap. Previous hosts, for example, made use of the voice functionality on Google Translate to communicate with us, as did we to communicate with them. In addition to the language barrier, we were then asked to sign a contract that was mostly written in Italian and included a three hundred Euro deposit (for a three-night stay), which made us uncomfortable, even more so given our difficulties with clarifying the purpose of the contract with our host. Our host did not expect us to pay the deposit stated in the contract, but it was still unpleasant to be asked to sign a contract which we could not understand and which our host could not explain to us.
This property will not accommodate hen, stag or similar parties.
