Lovely if you like quiet and traditional properties

9.0

Location is very quiet with excellent views of the surrounding countryside. Simple and pretty house with all the usual facilities you might expect.

Nothing really. It is worth stating what will be obvious if you look at a map, in that being slightly remote, you have a few minutes drive to the nearest shops, pubs, or restaurants.

A very cosy cottage, in a lovely rural setting, with very welcoming hosts.

7.0

Mary, our host, was extremely helpful and welcoming. The cottage was absolutely spotless. The beds were very comfortable. We slept incredibly well. The kitchen was very well equipped. The cottage was well appointed. The WiFi was solid. The towels were lovely and fluffy and the host also provided us with a hand towel each. The host provided hand soap; toilet rolls; kitchen towel; fairy liquid; dish cloths and a tea towel, for us to use, which was excellent. Mary sent us a very helpful email, shortly before our stay, which I really appreciated. The setting is incredibly tranquil.

We had no difficulty with the stairs but they are narrower than most stairs so if you are someone who has difficulty with stairs and you need a stair rail on both sides you should rake note. I wouldn't want to go up and down them carrying a child and my elderly parents would not have coped with them. The kitchen is a cold room because the front door opens onto it. The heating system is not eco-friendly as reliant on electric heaters. We tried not to use the heaters too much but the cottage was quite cold without them. Air-to-air electric heaters, in the main bedroom and the lounge would be much more environmentally friendly. There weren't any decent sized bowls, for having soup or porridge, or for making porridge/heating things up in the microwave (eg a pyrex bowl). Otherwise, the kitchen is VERY well equipped. The cottage is quite a distance from the nearest shops. On the other hand, you could argue that the cottage is well situated for getting to a number of different places as it is equidistant from Much Wenlock and Church Stretton. It would have been helpful to know that coffee; tea bags and sugar are not provided. It is not a criticism that they were not provided but it would be helpful to know that these are not provided, when you are packing, as the nearest shops are quite a distance away. Mary sent a really helpful message, beforehand, so it would be useful to add this.

Margaret and Jim were very welcoming and put us at ease straight away. The cottage was very well set out with everything we needed plus more besides and was extremely clean. It was so peaceful with beautiful views and was easy to get to so many places - definitely a haven!

Nothing.
