It was an amazing holiday!!! The Villa is perfect! It has everything you need and more! The location is great you are in the middle of Chania and Heraklion and right next to the most wonderful lake Kournos it's def a must if you're staying in the Villa. You have a beach right in front of the Villa and the pool is so clean as is the rest of the property. I also have to mention how sweet and caring the host is, she really makes your stay in the Villa amazing. I would book the Villa again and again! Great stay, thank you Magda

The Vento Calmo house is very well kept, nicely furnished and has everything you need (including well functioning air-condition which is a must during the hot months in summer). A truly beautiful house with a spectacular view of the sea. The welcome was very warm, smaller issues like a non-slip rubber mat for the shower were solved within 24 hours. We loved the house and the sensational view.

− The big issue is that the house is built just above the main transit road (like a highway) with heavy traffic 24/7. So if you want to lounge by the pool you have to wear earplugs or listen to music because the traffic noise drives you crazy. Or you stay inside the house where there are sound-proof windows. What a pity that the constant loud noise from cars, lorries, motorbikes etc. destroys such a beautiful place! If traffic noise is no concern of yours then this would be a lovely house to spend your holidays in.

Perfect Cretan Villa in a fabulous location

Villa Vento Calmo is a grand old stone villa set on a hill directly across the (busy) road from the beach. The location is incredible, even though the road is right there you soon forget about this and enjoy the house and pool, it is extremely private with no direct neighbours and no one looking in on you.The pool area is a sun trap and makes most of the early to mid afternoon sunlight , perfect for lounging on the loungers and having lunches under umbrella. The BBQ area is fantastic and we grilled out there almost every night. The kitchen is of an older style but works a treat. The beach approx 5 min walk across the road is stunning and feels almost as if its your own private beach , but right on the small headland is also the best taverna 'Kalipsinos' which is a friendly family run and very tasty and we spent most afternoons and evening there having seafood and beers on the sun loungers watching the sun set behind the mountains. Perfect. The villa is of an older style with loads of character. It is clean and comfortable. All the rooms are air conditioned and beds are comfortable, all rooms hjave spectacular balconies with ocean or pool views. We had 3 month and 6 month old babies with us and it was perfect for them too , with cots provided.

− The only way I can think to improve the villa would be to refresh and update the bathrooms. the upstairs bathroom had a slight issue with draining the bath after washing the babies- it would flood a bit through the drain hole, which would soak all the towels and clothes on the floor if left there. It could also do with an actual shower attachment in this bathroom as its just a handheld shower head which makes it tricky to thoroughly wash. Apart from that everything was perfect !

The villa is stunning, so well built. Beautiful. Someone poured their heart into this property when building it. The pool and scenery over the sea is amazing. It’s a great location, close to Rethymol. Great harbour town with good restaurants and shops. Opposite the villa is a lovely beach front to go to, very pretty with a little beach shack to get refreshments. I honestly didnt want to leave. The hosts were very organised and efficient to work with.

− The road below (main road) can be difficult to gain access too, but that’s only momentary. And that’s nothing to do with the actual property. Ps - you will need a car - ONLY HIRE A REGULAR POPULAR RENTALS LIKE FROM HERTZ OR ENTERPRISE at the airport, else you will end up double for insurance. Something i wasn’t aware of and got stung. Nothing to do with the Villa or hosts though. Just a side note.

The location and hosts Magda an George were extremely accommodating and we loved our stay. The location was exceptional as we were only 10 minutes from Rethymno. Right across the street is an awesome little beach and restaurant. Magda was there any time we needed using Whats App and really made our trip great. She even stocked our fridge before our arrival.

− We liked everything about the Villa. The only thing that was a little tricky was the driveway gate.
