8.0This place was lovely. It truly was the most "luxurious" of any hotel I have stayed in during my two month visit to Albania. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, the AC and fridge were cold, the shower was hot and the pressure was strong. And it had the first complete blackout window. I have found yet. No light leaking in around the curtains, and a really nice automatic shutter system covering the window, which also helped block out the concert noise down the street. The room not only had a kettle, but it also had cups and glasses for drinking. And while other comments have complained about the elevator, after climbing so many stairs in Albania, it was such a welcome edition to reach the fifth floor. I was thoroughly enjoying my stay here, until…
− I wasn't feeling my best due to the intense heat, so I decided to stay in for the morning. First housekeeping came to my door to say I was supposed to have checked out already. I told her no, I had booked three nights, not two. Then another knock came, this time the manager's daughter saying I had only reserved two nights, not three, and I had overstayed my welcome. I needed to pack up my things ASAP, because my room was rented to someone else. This sent me into a full-blown panic with both hands and knees shaking, doubting myself, wondering how I could have made such an embarrassing mistake? She kept insisting I was wrong. Thank goodness, I was able to pull up the reservation in booking on my phone as proof that I had indeed booked and paid for three nights. The most disappointing part was their assumption that the error was mine. No one ever came back to say I could relax,things had been resolved. No one ever came back to say they were sorry. No one addressed the issue whatsoever. Sometimes I feel guilty for using this big booking conglomerate that takes commission from the local hotels. But in this case, having proof of my reservation in their system was extremely beneficial. Otherwise, I might have been out searching for another hotel room for the night.
