Amazing, will definitely be back
10.0Five nights at Sails Beach House and we’re already plotting our return. Fabulous sea breezes, so the windows were never once shut. Our nightly entertainment came courtesy of the resident geckos, doing laps across the ceiling with the occasional spectacular tumble. High tide meant dugongs and turtles cruising past the deck, and at low tide we’d wander the reef right out front, pockets filling with shells. The kitchen was so well stocked we barely had to think — just organic produce from the ladies market and whatever looked best at the fish market, cooked fresh with the ocean at our door. The owner handled our transfers personally, staff sorted our bookings without a hitch, and the guest info pack was full of tips we actually used. Santo Heritage Tours built our day trips entirely around us — Santo in the mornings, a new lunch spot every afternoon. Kayaks and snorkelling gear was available for whenever we felt like it. Five nights flew by. We’ll be back.
− Nothing
Great holiday
10.0We had an absolutely wonderful five-night stay at this beautiful property in Vanuatu. I cannot say enough good things about it to do it justice. From the moment we booked, the host was friendly, responsive, and easy to deal with. The comprehensive house guide they provided was invaluable, particularly given some of the unique challenges that can come with travelling in a developing country. The property itself was beautiful, exceptionally clean, and well maintained. We enjoyed complete privacy throughout our stay while still knowing that the grounds staff were available and happy to assist whenever needed. One of the highlights was watching turtles swim past the property, particularly around high tide. Seeing them so regularly was a truly special experience and made our stay even more memorable. We followed the hosts’ recommendations and guidebook suggestions and it made the logistics of being on a tropical island easy. It is especially great that the staff can make call on your behalf, if you are having troubles with the local accents. It was clear that a great deal of thought and care had gone into making us feel comfortable and ensuring they we had the best possible experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday home to stay in as a base for your adventure or just a place to chill out.
− Loved everything
You could not pay me to stay here. Gilligan's Island is better.
1.0It may look picturesque but dont be fooled. Great balcony. Spacious the main bed is comfy Great shell finding
− No clear path to get on or off boat to get to the house. Its walking on beach on a foot of loose coral or tracking through the bush. We were greatedbut a dead rat at the bottom of stairs. We had no hot water in main bedroom no hot water in kitchen no hot water in main shower. There was one room with intermittent hot water, that we had to ask to be opened and set up for use and there was another dead rat on floor in room. We were literally stuck on the island at the house. No bikes. There was a buggy but not for our use. I would have paid extra to use it just so we could get around the island. We visited Freshwater Plantation, the driver there and back 3000vatu, $37aud each way then lunch was about $60 aud, each. Same travel price to get to mainland. We were ripped off by caretaker who arranged a driver for the day. 12000vatu. 5 people in what seemed like a mini and took us 3 times the time to drive to champaign Beach. This is a 4x4 road and we got to one spot not 4 like it should have been. We think he broke his car. The other beds are like kids beds, feel the springs but the mattress topper are mattresses we use for camping or i used on the bed for kids. Terrible. We felt like we we stranded on Milligan's Island. You could not pay me to stay here again. We had mice and rats chew through a sarong and eat fruit on the bench. A neighbours dog kept coming up and running through the house, so we couldn't leave the door open. There was one single kayak out with no paddle. We had to source and fix our own paddles and get the 2 seater kayak out ourselves. Not much to snorkle and see as the reef out front is mostly dead and when the tides change there isn't really a spot to swim and its hard to get to the swim spots. Bottom step missing to get down on beach is a major hazard. Not a place to bring children. There is absolutely nothing here to do. Take your own games as there is anything worthwhile there to use.
Perfect disconnect
10.0It was exactly what we wanted a get away and disconnect ! It also has everything you need while you’re on an island
Bitter sweet experience
6.0Comfortable house
− Located in a more remote part of Aore island which adds to travel costs. Owner ( not onsite) v difficult to deal with. The caretaker’s new dog destroyed $500 worth of my personal belongings ( during the night) which the owner refused to reimburse, and which I had not been warned about. A month down the track I’m still waiting on my house deposit to be refunded. The solar is a v old system that needs updating. Tried to use the NutriBullet in the pantry which shorted the whole system. The solar failed nightly. No air con- need to leave house open and fans on.
