A great relaxing stay with friends in a quaint house.
8.0The location and the style of the thya her cottage.
− The stairs to the bedrooms was very steep.
Loved it
10.0Very cosy, great host. Log burner for the win.
Great location and cute cottage (check facilities to confirm it’s ok for you)
7.0Great location, the garden leads out onto public footpaths over a brook. Cosy living area.
− No parking, have to park down the road if there’s a space or residents not patrolling! Upstairs is too small, bedrooms connected. Stairs very tight, no upstairs toilet
A perfect anniversary weekend in truly wonderful surroundings
10.0Buttercup cottage is in a beautiful village, the photographs don’t do justice to how lovely it is. And the view of the night sky without light pollution is exceptional!
Lovely little retreat
8.0The cottage was so quaint and quirky it's hard not to like the property. Each room was clean and tidy. It has a lovely open plan downstairs, the kitchen was clean with everything you need in it. The bathroom was modern and spotless. The bedrooms were a good size, comfy bed and places to store your clothes. The garden was clean and gave you access to the field behind and a short cut to the village green and pub. My dogs loved the garden to run and play around in. The curtains over the front door and garden door were great. It kept the cottage snug and warm.
− No onsite parking. Unpacking/packing the car was a bit more difficult. We had to park outside the cottage, put the hazards on and pack/unpack as quickly as possible. To ensure we weren't obstructing the road to long. For the week we used the car park in the local pub, which we did frequent everyday. The landlady kindly let us use a space for the 5 days. Even though the bedrooms were clean, tidy and very quaint, the bedrooms were dark as only one window in each room, I know this is a period cottage but having to sit on the floor to put make up and dry my hair to get enough light. There was also no facility to wash clothes if needed. I have 2 dogs who love rivers, so I go through endless towels. To be able to wash them would have been good.
Wonderful cottage, excellent hosts.
10.0Beautiful little cottage with plenty of character. Welcome book with lots of information including local shop and take away information. Very well equipped and touches such as biscuits, tea bags and coffee pods were a lovely touch to allow you a cuppa before heading out to stock up. Beds were clean and very comfortable. Had great sleeps all round due to the quiet and the darkness, not street lighting or light pollution around. We had a little squirrel visit us each morning in the garden. Hosts were in contact before staying and were within easy reach if required, but we had no issues, and it was a very smooth experience. we would be more than happy to return and would highly recommend it.
− No nearby parking, there is a layby along the road that was full, so we had to park further along the road, which wasn't an issue for us, just a minor inconvenience. This may be an issue if you have mobility issues, also the stairs are very steep and awkward to get to the bedrooms, we found it was part of the charm of the cottage and expected due the age and style,, but again not suitable for some.
