Amazing, the owner Leo went above and beyond and provided welcome Ice Tea and Mineral Water ...plus a new fresh bag of the local coffee Quarta. Leo was a true host , proud of his town, happy to welcome strangers , he even gave me a ride to the local supermarket and returned later to collect me ....not often you get a real gentleman and special treatment. Leo is an attorney , I was down on business, so anyone traveling on business (or family) should definitely give Leo a call. Apart from Leos warm hospitality, the place was perfect, 100% satisfactory, great kitchen if you like to cook, a rooftop terrace with an infinity view of the old city ...so you can enjoy the colourful sunset/skyline.... accompanied with some of the local food, beer and wines... so much to see in such a small town...if you are traveling in the region, you have to go to Martano...The Oil City...famous for their olive oil and thousand year old olive trees....unfortunately they are plagued with a devastating pathogen that has already killed over 20M ancient priceless Olive trees (15% of Italys Olive Groves) so anyone who loves olives and olive oil or saving history...you must go visit Olivami, www.Olivami.com , they are fighting this plague and they represent most if not all the farmers in the region and together they are the front line.... they too offer a tour of their factory and the surrounding farms and plantations...plus you can buy all the local products and even sponsor and adopt an ancient 2,000 year old olive tree and plant new ones to replace the losses already encored.
