Perfect, peaceful and stay… Kholeka was exceptional and Maria. Highly recommend.
10.0
The staff were friendly and on the ball. We are planning another visit . We would recommend it
9.0The spaciousness of the lounge, dining room and kitchen as we were a total of 11 people in the two groups. The ecxellent pool , game drive and walks. The snooker table came in handy for the children too
− Some people don't like the idea of sharing with strangers so it's better to book the whole place if possible
The place is beautiful & secluded.
4.0The place is quite beautiful but I believe they can do more in terms of reception and how they receive their customers. I can’t remember the African lady’s name Nokukhanya or Noluthanda tried her best to make our stay comfy. The place is tranquil and liked the fact that there are no TVs in the rooms. The light switches were beautiful and unique. The coffee/tea cups were just beautiful. The outdoor chairs are to die for. The property is highly secured. Marketing photos about this place don’t lie, though during our stay the place was under renovations and reconstruction.
− I didn’t like how we were received, the guy by the name of Louis came to us smoking cigerette which was disrespectful, he only took it away after some time. Our bathroom didn’t have glasses to use when brushing our teeth, no suitcase stand for our luggage. We had a lot to carry to our room but no one assisted us with our luggage. The water from the shower tap didn’t come out well though the bathroom was beautiful. The bathroom mats were too small and slippery. There was not enough space for us to put our cellphones. The property just needs to improve on their hospitality.
Misleading advertisement, poor facilities
2.0Property has a pool, which would nice for a summer visit. There is a dam, but you'll need to drive and find it for yourself. It's not nearby facilities.
− The property is very far from Makanda, despite how it is advertised. We were not informed of intensive roadworks, including a steep, loose gravel and dangerous on ramp to and out of the property that would be inaccessible to smaller vehicles. The room lacked basic facilities. No soap for the bath. Two hangers in a all hanging wardrobe so unable to unpack. One roll of toilet paper for a three day stay. We had to coordinate remote controls. No additional blankets, despite Grahamstown winter temperatures. There is "technically" wifi, but it only works in "the main house", not in the room you rent. And it is not next to a river, despite images and listing description. The river is far away, but technically visible. An important note: this property also advertises a full home for rent. This "main house" is NOT private. You may rent the entire space but still be expected to share the kitchen, lounge, etc. That's not clearly stated in the listing (in other single room listings there is a small mention of a "shared kitchen"). It is a nice kitchen, but essentially a more upper market hostel. I almost made this mistake. You rent rooms in the house, NOT the house. Extremely misleading. Another note: this is a former military output. If you don't fancy sleeping next to a colonial era battle site, rather skip this one. It made me very uncomfortable and seems extremely inappropriate.
