A surprise visitor.

Could store bikes in basement (2 steps), and could do a load of laundry. Staff were friendly although we only saw them at check-in, then comms via WhatsApp. It was 'homely' although mostly dated decor. Location partway between Cáceres & Merida meant we could do a shorter riding day on our touring bicycles in the heat.

After being told we had the place to ourselves (other rooms unbooked) were surprised when a woman unlocked the door with a key, told us she was going to have a siesta then leave, not stay the night. We informed host she was there, he explained she'd leave and not come back, but not who she was or why she was there. She went out around 9pm, but bags were still there. Finally collected bags at 9.30pm. It was disappointing that we had to spend time communicating about and resolving this situation when we wanted to relax after riding, get laundry done, look round the village, eat, and prepare for our early start the next day including loading our bikes which were next to the room she occupied. We paid a high price of €147 to stay there. It would have been preferable if the host had either explained that we were sharing the space and teduced the rate accordingly, OR ensured other guests had vacated the property before our check-in.

Casa para el Camino de Santiago

10.0
