I haven’t stayed in any other family home environments in Japan only hotels. This home had many features of what I expected. Plenty of ceramic vases and artwork adorned the rooms.

− Sleeping on a futon was an expected experience. Perhaps just once in a lifetime for my old bones. The bedroom would benefit from additional sound proofing.

stayed for 7 nights to lock myself away from the city and create art. ended up enjoying my slow life much more than i expected, especially with access to such a beautiful neighborhood and park. there’s a local family mart, small bakery, and produce market. however, you can easily take the minutes away bus to access the university station which has plenty of cafes, a mall theater and huge bookstore. i felt safe as a solo female traveler and appreciated the host’s kindness throughout my stay. he helped to pick up and drop me off, and made sure i was always comfortable. extremely communicative and also gave me privacy. the bath was a favorite of mine. overall the home decor is delicate and romantic. art is hung throughout and light shines through the home beautifully, especially the sun room. will definitely return when i have the chance.
