Clean and comfortable but could be better
7.0The property had everything I needed for an overnight stay - comfortable and clean - a hot tub and use of property sauna great additions.
− The tv remote didn't work even after asking for new batteries, pillows could be better quality and I felt it was a little overpriced for what it was.
Lovely scenery, owners were lovely also very helpful.
9.0Nice and quiet, lovely for a relaxing break.
The hot tub is a bonus.
− The bed was uncomfortable that was the only thing everything else was lovely and cosy.
Home from home
Quiet location, but room for improvements
5.0When I arrived at the property, the keys had been left in the door. I rang the owner (voicemail) to say I had arrived - but I didn't like to access the property as I was 30 mins early, and I hadn't yet paid. I sat on the decked area and the owner arrived at the check-in time. She very kindly said it was ok if I'd gone into the property though.
The location was rural, nice and quiet. There was a hot tub and a sauna (although the sauna wasn't mentioned to me) I did say I may not use the hot tub (it was a solo visit) and I was just there for 2 nights. The owner explained everything relevant, and mentioned there was no window in the bedroom - so a fan was provided, as it got rather warm. She was right! It was nice to sit outside and watch the Red Kites flying overhead. The property was up a track, away from the main road, and it was quiet and peaceful.
− I love dogs, and the owner has 2 Bernese mountain dogs - which are lovely - but may concern some people as to their size and friendliness. The larger one did jump up and place his paws on my shoulders - and being a large heavy dog, I would advise people to just be aware of their strength! One did shoot into the cottage and come out with one of my shoes, which I had to wrestle off him - but the dogs are friendly and not ferocious. The property would really benefit from a window in the bedroom - it was stifling in there, so I did use the fan a lot through the night as I couldn't sleep. I opened the small window at the bottom of the stairs, but it wasn't enough. The property is basic, but adequate for a couple of nights. It's been converted from an old Dairy, but the finishing of paintwork and woodwork isn't good, and there are a few cobwebs here and there. On my first evening, I tried to relax on the sofa and do a little reading - but I found the sofa very uncomfortable, and ended up going to bed early. The TV is attached to the wall, and the sofa isn't in a good place to watch it, without getting a crick in your neck. On the second night, I decided to leave my car and go for a walk. However, after walking part way down the track - I was met by numerous cows, who took an interest in me - so I turned back. I'm a country girl and used to livestock - but this wasn't comfortable. So I headed back, and thought I'd give the hot tub a go - only to be met by the dogs, pushing past me to get into the cottage. I gave up, and had another early night - although like the previous night, couldn't sleep for the lack of air in the bedroom. As I do when I check out of somewhere, I strip the bed and leave the bedding folded for the 'changeover' (hoping I'm being helpful). I suggest the bedding needs replacing. That's all I'm saying.
