Best staff we have experienced that did everything to make our stay comfortable, but not 4 star hote

The staff was AMAZING! They were always super responsive and did what they could to help out. For example, once we ordered food from the only restaurant and they accidently thought we were in a sister location in town, but delivered the food never the less. The staff worked hard with me to refund one night's stay since we decided to leave one day early. The staff was INCREDIBLE and the best I have seen.

− This is by no means a 4 star property as advertised. The room itself was outdated. The appliances was not working, for example the venting fan did not work. The sinks were rusted, there was a cockroach in one of the drawers. The mosquitoes on this property were crazy, the worst I have ever experienced. The only single restaurant on site lacks basic things e.g. chocolate milk. We have traveled the world and stayed at 2-5 stars, but Brahma Blue is not a 3 star let alone a 4 star property. The pictures are deceptive, you cannot enter the water from the property.

We booked a penthouse (3 of our party were arriving a day early than others but we chose to pay for the penthouse rather than live out of a suitcase then move after 1 day). Unfortunately the penthouse was not available due to unforeseen circumstances, and we were given an inferior apartment for that night. This was disappointing, but the member of staff was very helpful and very apologetic (and they did not charge for an extra bed that we reserved). That particular apartment was an interior one (so quite dark hallway and bedrooms/bathrooms with limited natural light, and dark concrete floors although the lounge/kitchen/balcony was very nice. The penthouse was much better, it had fabulous panoramic views and was really light and airy with great sized rooms. Fully equipped kitchen and 3 bathrooms and TV with firestick. The grounds and location are great, very peaceful. Lovely pool and lagoon jetty. Good restaurant next to the boat jetty. The boat ride across, yes was a little restricting but we really enjoyed actually, apart from getting stuck for an hour at 9pm waiting to return (some issue with cover not being available) but after that, yes there were 10-15 minute delays (bear in mind if catching a flight) but nothing troubling. You can always pay for a specific time crossing (10USD pp I think). We did not see staff much at all during our stay and the apartments aren't serviced during stays as far as I know (we didn't mind this, and they were responsive to messages). All in all we had a lovely time!

− Downsides, some of the apartment facilities could do with updating and the water pressure was poor. Disappointed that the jacuzzi tub was absolutely non useable, barely a trickle, should really be advertised as "not currently working" as for some of our party this was a significant reason for booking.

It was so much fun exploring the busy hustle and bustle of San Pedro town and so blissful t9 get the little 3 min boat ride across the lagoon to the peace and quiet of Brahma Blue. Our group loved everything about it. The views across the lake from our balcony were stunning. We could have sat there all day just looking. The room was immaculate and well equipped and the staff were great. The Coconut cafe over the water was fantastic. Great food choices and good portion sizes. Also delicious cocktails and a well stocked bar. We will be back again for sure!

We will not be returning to Belize to stay at the Brahma Blue again.

The restaurant is the hangout for the guests staying at Brahma Blue. The food was good, drinks good and had a nice atmosphere. The view from the top floor, Presidential Suite, was nice. The pool was cold and not staffed. We had to hunt down any person working for the hotel to give us any towels and felt that we had to keep the same ones for our entire stay. Our suite was roomy - that was nice.

− We were told by the manager when we checked in that they hadn't had time to keep up with all the maintenance needed for our unit. That was an understatement. We found it to be in quite a lot of disrepair. An INcomplete list is: when it rained there were large puddles of water that got in through the windows in the kitchen area and one of the bedrooms; the door stops didn't hold the doors well and as the wind could be very strong and the doors heavy, a finger could be amputated if not very careful. Extremely dangerous with children around. In the photos there is an outdoor hot tub on one of the decks. This did not work. It was more like a bathtub that lukewarm water could trickle into and could possibly fill over the course of 12+ hours. After a half hour, the water was cold. It was not useable and one of the features of the suite that we were looking forward to using. We were told that houseekeeping would come every other day. They came only once and it was because we requested it. They tried to tell us that they were too busy to come during the day when we were planning to be out and it would need to be in the evening. When they came, we were gone and came back to cigarette butts in the hot tub. Lastly, I will mention, if you are coming to Belize for the first time, it is inconvenient to stay at the Brahma Blue because of the additional water taxi that must be taken to get across the lagoon. Because of this restriction and the schedule for the water taxi that goes across every two hours only, we found that we didn't have a chance to explore San Pedro as much as we would lhave liked.
