The area was peaceful and a good base to get to other places. The cottage was lovely, comfortable and had everything we needed. Anne the host was great and very welcoming, leaving us some goodies on arrival including eggs from the resident chickens. Gave us lots of useful information of the surrounding area. I would absolutely recommend this cottage for a stay in the New Forest.

Transported to another world!

We loved the location and charm as well as the facilities. Arriving at Bessie May cottage you feel transported to a different world. It is magical - unique and utterly cozy. Without doubt it exceeded all our - high - expectations. The moment we arrived we were welcomed by Anne who showed us “home” for a few days. It is a charming cottage as if from a film set: instantly calming and relaxing as it was beautiful. Gorgeous bedroom (two with the upper floor) and bathroom that had modern yet period style combined. Delighted to find fresh eggs from the chickens on the property and bread left with delicious home made jams provided by our lovely host making breakfast that much sweeter. And the prosecco for a movie night ! Or swing high from the tree as the evening descends. The wonderful garden location was a place to laze the day or eat outside in the quiet solitude of a New Forest summer day; lost in the beauty - lying back in the comfort of the lawn recliners. We appreciated it all. Anne’s care and attention to detail helped leave us utterly contented.

Gorgeous garden with chickens wondering around. Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Board games, a swing, loungers and foodie treats on arrival. Just perfect!

− Need a car to get there. Though that means it's a quiet and beautiful rural location.

An idyllic country getaway

Really great cottage in a gorgeous location. The beds were really comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom has gorgeous fluffy white towels. It feels very homely and it’s somewhere we’d love to come and spend more time. We enjoyed the welcome goodies left in the cottage - fresh eggs from the chickens, homemade marmalade and jam, biscuits and fresh bread. We had eggs on toast in the garden both mornings, what a treat. Thank you to Anne for being so welcoming and kind throughout our stay.

ウェルカミングでありながら干渉し過ぎない、ホストの人柄が滲み出た素敵なファームハウス。功利的とはかけ離れた、まるで仲良しの友人宅を訪れた様な気分にさせてくれました。例えば、浴室の上部に取り付けられたはめ殺しのステンドグラスの窓は、自分が住むには快適で日中も明るい日差しを約束してくれましたが、掃除の手間や費用対効果ばかり重視する宿だったならは、きっと期待できなかったでしょう。真っ白なゲスト用タオルにも心意気を感じました。バスタブやシャワーも新しくて気持ちよかったです。 朝晩にふらりと尋ねてくるロバやポニーの群れ、ニワトリも可愛かったです。
