Lovely riverside cottage, clean and comfortable.

9.0

Good contact with the host, easy access arrangements and accommodation was as described. Ideal stop-off for one night on way home from Cornwall. Nice touches with dog bowl and hot chocolate station in the kitchen and a large selection of dvds and games! Clean and comfortable with lovely outdoor space overlooking the river and good parking. Property is attached to the Host's home. Nearby pub which was great too - where we enjoyed a riverside lunch.

The internet was a little patchy but suspect was due to the general location and whilst there was a great selection of dvd's to play we had a bit of trouble with the tech. (Some general instructions might be helpful for others who may similarly be technophobes!) However, opportunity to read a book overlooking the river was a lovely way to relax. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Great short stay for dog lovers!

5.0

A great short stay for dog lovers! - the owner's curious dog quite happily wandered into our lounge and kitchen uninvited on several occasions during our stay... We don't own a dog. The property is a Grade II listed cottage situated by the riverside. It's clean and well maintained. The cottage has a lovely cosy, quirky feel to it. Superb, well-equipped kitchen and a good-sized comfortable lounge with a big Smart TV. Two upstairs bedrooms. Good collection of games and books. Note: Bear in mind, because of the inherent design and age of the cottage, accessibility can be challenging. Watch your step as the floor is not always level and some floorboards feel loose and creak. Bathroom facilities might not meet the modern traveller's expectations. (The shower is a bit small but still perfectly serviceable). Additionally, headroom is lower than in modern buildings so, prepare to duck your head near door frames and dodge protruding light fittings. Parking is free and only a short walk to the property. The cottage is close to a lively pub and a short drive into town.

One main criticism was the close proximity of the main road to the property - fast moving traffic is literally inches from the kitchen window. Traffic noise was especially intrusive at night when the occasional car or motorcycle sped by, or in the early hours of the morning when farm vehicles rumbled through. Beds feel rather bouncy. Number of power outlets limited. Wi-Fi serviceable but slow and with a limited range. Signage to the property would be helpful, thankfully we were able to contact the owner for directions. Overall, a pleasant experience for a short stay.

We only stayed for around 20 minutes before deciding the property wasn't suitable for us and leaving

3.0

Once we found the property, the location was convenient for exploring the local area.

We found the property quite difficult to locate and drove past it several times before finding it. After arriving, we spent around 20 minutes in the property deciding whether to stay. During that time we noticed a musty smell, the accommodation felt dark and dated, and the sofas and furnishings appeared very worn. We sat on the bed to assess the mattress but found it much thinner and less comfortable than expected. There were also several partly used toiletries left in the bathroom, which made it feel less fresh. We decided the property wasn't suitable for us and booked alternative accommodation instead, so we didn't stay the night. We also realised afterwards that there wasn't a downstairs WC, although that was our oversight when booking.

A beautiful spot next to the river. Comfortable bed and cool at rear of house.

Bedroom at front of house very noisy with windows open...necessary due to heat.

Lovely place.

The host was really accommodating with our request to arrive early due to the heat. The house was lovely, amazing views, lovely spot to sit outside by the river.
