It was a nice place with clean rooms. The room has an ante room witj a table and chairs for eating, which is unusual but very nice. Central location to the white walled town which made it easy for walking around and exploring.

Unfortunately, my experience staying here was extremely disappointing.

− It started with being woken up around 3 a.m. by loud kitchen activity. As it turns out, the host runs a catering business and was cooking all night — with banging, clattering, and vibrations that could be felt throughout the house. While unpleasant, I wouldn’t have written a negative review based on that alone. However, the next day something much more serious happened. I told the hosts I was going for a short walk (about 30 minutes) and left without my phone or money. When I returned, the front door was locked and no one was home. I managed to call the host from a nearby shop; she promised to come and unlock the door — but never showed up and stopped answering calls. I was left outside in the midday heat for over an hour, completely cut off from my belongings. It was a deeply stressful and unacceptable situation. To make matters worse, that same evening everyone left again and locked the front door — this time leaving me locked inside. Despite several polite requests, the hosts had refused to give me a key to the main entrance. I was effectively trapped in the house with no way out in case of an emergency. In addition, there was a strong unpleasant smell in the bathroom, which persisted throughout my stay. And the lock on the bedroom door was more symbolic than functional — it could be opened just by gently pushing in the opposite direction. That did not make me feel safe or comfortable. What made everything worse was the total lack of any apology or acknowledgment from the hosts. Locking a guest outside or inside the property, denying them a key, and showing no responsibility is simply unacceptable. I had hoped for a peaceful stay, but instead I was left feeling unsafe and disrespected.

One of my best stay in Colombia. Maria and her children are the most adorable people. During a long solo trip it's great to stay in a place like this, it feels like being with family. The room was nice and clean. The location is excellent. 5mn walk from the main plaza and right across the street from el Morro de Tulcan. On top of being a great host, Maria is also an excellent Chef. She cooks delicious vegetarian dishes every day from fresh produce at a very affordable price. I loved every meal I had there. I hope I can come back and visit them again in the near future. 🥰
