Perfect getaway
10.0We had a fantastic Nye stay at Glan y bala and didn't want to leave. The house is full of character, it's very clean and well equipped and the views are absolutely amazing. Waking up seeing the mountain goats walking past on New years day was definitely the highlight for my 5 year old granddaughter. It's a fantastic place to stay for a family holiday, the huge lounge was perfect for board games and watching the fireworks at midnight Nye And some lovely walks in the surrounding areas with our dogs. Wouldn't hesitate to book again
− Wish we could have stayed longer
Fantastic property for larger group or couple of families that want to explore the area
9.0What a find! We were two families wanting to stay together and the 8 person option from Glan-Y-Bara fit the bill. The property is 190 years old, but has been modernised inside. The bathrooms and kitchen have recently been refurbished while the dining room with its huge table and serving hatch retains that olde feel. Antique furniture can be found throughout. We loved it. Easily spacious enough to accommodate our two families. The dog loved running zoomies along the hall that spanned three double bedrooms. The apartment is off of the beaten track, top floor of a property sitting in its own grounds, we loved this isolation while still being only a 15 minute walk from Llanberis town centre. Must admit we struggled to find the place, for other guests head for the National Slate Museum and after passing through the gates there is a small road off to the right leading to the gated entrance to the property - yes, you have to open the gate and close it behind you. Got to mention Richard who met us on arrival, showed us around and apologised for some of the work that was taking place. Great host, chatty and down to earth. Some of the garden was overgrown, but this was being addressed at the time. My partner and I intend to return and look forward to seeing the finished result. Mobile reception was terrible, but the property has WiFi that was faultless. To be honest, mobile reception was choppy all around the area. There is a satellite TV in living room, lots of channels, we turned it on but did not really make much use of it.
− Okay, we battled with the induction cooker in the kitchen and lost. Probably down to none of us being familiar with this type of cooker, but it should not be this difficult to fry bacon!
