I stayed at Umah Saren Homestay for 8 days in August. The surroundings and the view were beautiful. The homestay was clean and neat. As a woman traveling alone I felt very safe in this environment. Everyone who works there offered me excellent hospitality. They were so incredibly kind and genuine. Made, who works there, was kind enough to show me the beautiful surroundings on his motorbike. Nearby activities I enjoyed were: Organic Vanilla Farm by Pak Putu Catur, Tukad Cepung Waterfall and Goa Raja Waterfall. I would 10 out of 10 recommend staying here if you are looking for something peaceful, comfortable and quiet!

I recommend renting a motorbike or preparing for taxi rides if you'd like to visit other places, as the location is very remote and there aren't many amenities within walking distance.

Will not go back there

Dinner had to be bought, breakfast was included in our plan. Food was good.

The only room where guest can have breakfast or dinner is designed like a bar. The room has a counter with (too) high chairs and deep sofas with low tables. Sofas are aligned along the wall - you cannot face your family members or friends with whom you are sharing the meal. The entire arrangement of chairs and tables is unsuitable for comfortable eating. You need to balace the plates on your knees. Everybody get's served at the same time. It's impossible to share something with your family/friends without everyone else present being part of the conversation. - It seems that the owner tried someting special, maybe "Western". It's a pity, because if there was a simple restaurant arrangement with tables, 4 chairs each, I would give the place 4 stars. - Not five because all rooms are located right above the pig stall with its typical smell. Ours (1st floor) was right above the pigs... My daughter didn't like the chicken hoop next to the pigs. The rooster kept her from sleeping in...

Grateful for the truely memorable, rich and eventful time at Umah Saren Homestay!

Wyan, the owner and his family were really lovely, extremely helpful, friendly, generous & inclusive. They even taught me how to make these little prayer baskets, Amazing location and view from the balcony of the top villas. To road to the homestay narrows & the last part is not accessible by car. You need to walk down a winding path that leads through a banana jungle until you finally reach the court yard of Umah Saren. The setting is truely Balinese with an open pavilion, several big carp aquariums, lovely garden feartured. Rice fields, waterfalls, organic vanilla farm & a great Warung in walking distance from the homestay. Umah Saren is one of those few peaceful & non-touristy spots in Bali where you can witness and become part of the local life.

The only thing I would like to suggest to improve is the selection of breakfasts on offer.

Host and everyone around are soooo nice and kind. Beautiful view of nature with rice fields. Tukand cepung waterfall very close and several other ones as well. Breakfast omellete and coffee. Total family vibes.

For someone might be unpleasent smell from pigs and sounds of roosters from 5am.
