Tuscan hideaway with gorgeous pool and garden

10.0

The house is very Italian and fully equipped with all you need. Had to youtube how to make Italian coffee in a percolator! It is a semi detached house and although we sometimes heard a neighbour in the distance, we never saw him/her. The mosquito nets on the window are ideal. The temperature was 38oC plus but we closed the shutters every morning and the house stayed cool. Opening them again at night to let the cooler evening air in. The beds were very comfortable with crisp white sheets, fluffy towels and huge pool side towels, giving a sense of luxury. The house is not new or very modern but you can tell it is much loved and super clean. The WiFi was great. The pool however is absolutely fantastic. Situated higher than the house, up some old stairs and foot tiles, it all of a sudden opens up to a plateau with the kidney sharped pool surrounded by trees. It is very enclosed and private and has a strong Agatha Christie fibs to it (or could just be me reading crime novels). With even higher up the hill an old gazibo with bbq area which is too rusty to use and great views over the valley below. The pool water is clean and for me most important- warm. With temperatures souring up to 38oC during the day, the soft breeze through the trees and the sound of the cicadas clicking, brings peace to the over worked and busy mind. We agreed with the owner that he would clean the pool once during our one week stay which was great as it had been a windy night and the pool looked wonderful again when he left.

I rented the house because of its remote location, the pool and closeness to Florence. However before you rent this gorgeous holiday location, you need to know about the treacherous steep road with multiply hairpin bends leading to it. Not for the faint hearted driver especially at night but well worth it. steep road with multiply hairpin bends leading to it. Not for the faint hearted driver especially at night but well worth it.

A wonderful Villa with a great exclusive pool located remotely in the Tuscany mountains. A great place to relax.

Everything was great.

The house’s location offers a beautiful view of the mountains. The road leading up to it is very steep, so you need to be confident driving up there. Otherwise, the surroundings of the house are truly stunning. The staff were not pleasant to be around. They visited us three times during our 7-day stay, in addition to check-in, claiming they needed to “clean” the pool. Every time they came, we had to justify everything. It was really uncomfortable to feel watched in this way and to have to explain ourselves each time, even though we hadn’t damaged anything or changed the layout of the house. One day they showed up unannounced, and the female owner became so frustrated that she raised her voice because we had removed a bedsheet to wash it. There were children in the house at the time, and her reaction made them feel unsafe. We fully understand that the family wants to take care of their home, but not to the extent that guests feel unwelcome from day one. We did everything they asked of us and respected their home, but it still wasn’t enough. That’s why the staff/owners are receiving such poor reviews.

Passable

5.0

It is nice house with beautiful interior inside and great views to Toscana hills. Owners of house were very kind and hospitable, were ready to help if you have any questions.

House location is on top of hill, so you need a car to move to nearest locations (descent is quite steep, so better to have powerful engine car) Next to house are neighbours house, so it is like a semi-detached house. Area is surrounded by fence, but sometimes you do not feel yourself like in private area. Neighbours have 3 dogs and sometimes they could disturb you and scare children by barking.
