Disgusting
1.0Lately, fewer and fewer hotels have smoking rooms, but this one did. Relatively convenient location, within walking distance of the city's central station.
− There were a great many things wrong. First of all, while the location is convenient for those using public transport, it was very difficult for me to navigate there by car, even with GPS assistance. Furthermore, the parking area turned out to be in a side street next to the hotel—a spot that didn't look like a proper parking lot at all. For the first time in ages, I felt anxious about leaving my car there. To make matters worse, I discovered upon check-in that there was a fee for parking. I was only staying one night, so the cost wasn't huge, but the whole situation was unpleasant. Right from the start, the woman at the front desk grimaced when she saw a foreigner (me); she only began to engage once I started speaking Japanese. I imagine that for foreigners who don't speak Japanese at all, even checking in would be a struggle. When booking, I had specifically requested a room in the quietest possible area. So, where did they put me? Right in front of the elevator, with a communal refrigerator for all guests situated immediately next to my door. Consequently, from early morning until late at night, I had to listen to the sound of stomping, slamming doors, and all the associated noise. The room was dated; turning on the shower created a racket like a massive pumping station, and the "cherry on top" was the bed. Have you ever slept on a bed that sloped toward the aisle? It was a first for me, and naturally, even during the brief quiet spells at night when no one was stomping or slamming things, I still couldn't sleep simply because I kept sliding off the bed. The next morning, I was a wreck from lack of sleep and hoped at least to have a decent breakfast, but things went wrong there, too. Unlike the business hotels I usually stay at, the breakfast window here was very short; when I arrived, every seat was taken, and there was no staff around.
