The cottage is at the back of the main house and, therefore, very quiet. Most pleasing of all, though, is the fabulous garden in front of the cottage. Over a weekend it is idyllic and obviously well cared for. (However, I don't know how private it is during the week; I would imagine there must, understandably, be gardeners about etc). The WiFi was wonderful. It has an excellent number of power points and multi adapters. The bed was comfortable. The property must be particularly enjoyable in summer, especially if you like sitting outside and having a barbecue.

− The cottage smelled very damp and was freezing cold (it was winter). I woke up startled in the early hours of the morning with dripping on my head which was most alarming. I thought it was a one of at least two roof leaks, as it was also dripping on the opposite side of the bed onto the bedside table. I spoke to the receptionist at a rival accommodation and she suggested it might be weeping wood beams which is common in old buildings without proper humidity control etc. The only other negative experience was the poor water pressure in the shower, odd as in the kitchen it was very strong.

We had to cut our stay short because of a home crisis but the night we were there was comfortable

Great location and garden Lots to do in the area Lovely linen on bed, warm blankets

− No lounge area to sit in or eating area (except for a small table in small kitchen). The two lighters provided for gas stove didn't work. Not a major problem but meant we couldn't cook breakfast one morning.

I cannot rate this charming cottage more. The location is perfect and it is situated in the most beautiful garden. It is very well equipped and has special things like a heater in the bathroom which was very welcomed on those cold winter nights. The host was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful weekend away.
