A unique and personalized experience in a delightful family run hostel
10.0Staying at Hostal Tulio Porteno was a little like going back in time to an era when commercial transactions were more authentic and personable. By the end of our 4 night stay, we felt as if the owners (Anais & Matias) were our friends. From the fresh breakfasts where everything was homemade (even the bread, yogurt and granola!) to the New Years Eve Party that they hosted (with full view of the famous Valparaiso fireworks) to discussions about tennis and Chilean literature and even the frequent visits from their delightful cats, we felt at home at Tulio Porteno. Anais and Matias provided great tips and recommendations, always checked in on us and our needs and indulged me while I practiced my not so great Spanish! I think that we got a real sense of what it is like to live in Valparaiso that we would not have if we'd stayed somewhere else. I hope to stay there again sometime!
