Spotless clean cozy place!

The place was spotless! Very clean and fresh! The bathroom is newly renovated (or may be owners just take good care of it). The mattress was comfortable, cozy bed in general. The was air conditioning in the kitchen and living room. The communication with the host was very consistent, detailed instructions, constant follow up by the host. Oh, and it was quiet (may be not many guests were there)

− I loved the place very much in general, but unfortunately the air conditioning didn't reach my room. There is a fan in a room, I slept the whole night with it on, however it was still hot.

Great, would stay again if in the area and recommend.

A Golden Find in Val-d'Or!

Our stay at L'Orpailleur was truly special and felt like stepping back in time. We were fascinated to learn about the building's rich history, starting as a boarding house for the many single miners who flocked to the Lamaque mine in 1935. It's incredible how the inn has maintained its authentic charm through the years, with only minor renovations that always respected its original spirit. In the mid-1990s, Nicole Garceau and Dominique Gay Spriet transformed it into the welcoming inn it is today, perfect for travelers who appreciate a rustic and historic atmosphere. L'Orpailleur is a rare survivor from Abitibi's major gold rush era, and it's clear why it's an integral part of the Village minier de Bourlamaque, a designated historical site since 1979. What made our stay even more compelling was the inn's location just a few steps from La Cité de l'Or. This incredible site is the only place in Canada that truly takes you into the heart of a gold mine, showcasing one of the country's most productive exploitations. You can even visit a historic mining village that's still occupied today! If you're looking for a stay that offers more than just a bed – one that provides a genuine connection to the region's past and an incredible historical experience – L'Orpailleur is an absolute gem. Highly recommend!

− While our stay was wonderful, we did have one small suggestion: it would be lovely to see real indoor plants and flowers instead of artificial ones.

The location - the house - very clean - One bedroom was exceptional.

− One of the bedroom is small - no space for the luggage - the bed makes noise at each move and the mattress is not great. Too bad we don’t meet the owner. Breakfast is not included.
