Volastra village above Manarola with scenic views of the Cinque Terre

7.0

The place itself is a small 2 bedroom apartment in a little hamlet Volastra above Manarola village. It’s 2-3min away walking downhill from the main church square (couple flight of stairs for those with heavy suitcases). Apartment was clean and cute with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and freezer, and gas stove. Bathroom has a shower, toilet, bidet and big sink and is clean! Keep the window open so the steam and moisture goes away (does not have fan or ventilation). AC is in the living room and is quite loud. Your best bet is to keep the windows open over night with a cool breeze. Hamlet itself has a small grocery shop (great focaccia and pesto), it works in the morning and late in the afternoon. There’s a gelato place, coffee shop and two restaurants we didn’t try. Definitely suggest the Cantina Capellini Agrivino - vineyard with beautiful views over the bay with local vines. Reserve if you wanted food with wine oairings. Stunning sunsets! We kept our car parked above the village, and used shuttle to get into Manarola - swimming and cliff diving in the marina is fun for teenagers. Recommending day trip to Monterosso (3 stop train ride from Manarola) for a fun beach day. You can hike down to Manarola, but that takes 35-40min with a many stairs (350m vertical drop and 2.3km) can get quite hot during day! We enjoyed the apartment stay overall. Communication with Terre Marine could improve. Our Internet did not work and they did not follow up to get it fixed in three days we stayed there. Cellular reception is pretty bad in the apartment so we could not research the rest of our trip very easily. The Volastra hamlet is very charming and quiet little peaceful spot.

Post-booking pre-registration experience was unreasonably complicated and the web application was hard to use. Basically, you need to provide everyone’s names and upload their passport photos. Management company Terre Marine is using AI assistant and does not respond to WhatsApp messages very promptly. Your best bet is to call them directly to the phone instead. Once you reach the staff they are helpful and very pleasant. We had an issue with failed internet router, so we did not have any internet connection during our stay, which coupled with terrible 5G reception in the house, it was challenging to do any further planning in the apartment. The AC was quite loud and not really cooling down place that much. Your best bet is to keep the windows open overnight for a nice night breeze.

Superbe emplacement.

W pobliżu sklep, bar i restauracja. Lokalizacja idealna do zwiedzania Cinque Terre.
