Perfect period house in best location with gorgeous dipping pool

An utterly stunning, historical property. We’ve been travelling through Mexico for nearly 5 months and this was the most beautiful, hands down. It’s a real privilege to spend a few days there. The owners have lovingly restored it and added a brilliant spring water pool. The location is perfect too. There’s organic shampoo, huge fluffy towels, tissues, loads of water and dried herbs to use in the kitchen, great coffee and even raw honey. It felt really generous, we could feel how much they cared about guests’ time there and they’d gone the extra mile. We had the best time in Izamal, and staying at this property meant that we didn’t feel we always needed to go out to experience the place. It was all around us there, in the house and garden. Sitting in the garden listening to birdsong and the horses hooves on the roads outside was memorable, alongside delicious dips in the pool at the hottest time of day. Recommended.

The location is perfect just a few blocks from the Convent through a beautiful archway and close to several restaurants on the squares. We were enchanted by this property - the restoration and respect for heritage is exceptional. It is very beautiful - high quality contemporary furnishings that blend so well with the heritage property so you had history and comfort and excellent facilities all at the same time. It really is worth going to the town if only to stay at this fabulous home. The owner and housekeeper were so gracious and the whole place is very well kept. LOVED IT

Es ist eine wunderschöne Unterkunft. Sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Besonders der riesige Eingangsbereich mit Sitzecke und der wunderbare Garten, haben es uns angetan. Wir hatten das Glück, dass uns Zenka empfangen hat, da wir schon was eher angereist sind. Sie hat uns noch ein paar Tipps zur Umgebung gegeben und uns das Haus gezeigt. Eine sehr nette und zuvorkommende Person. Die Lage ist ebenfalls sehr zentral und wir haben so gut wie alles zu Fuß erledigt. Nur ein größerer Supermarkt ist ein wenig weiter entfernt. Was allerdings zu sagen ist, weil es auf den Bildern vllt nicht so rüber kommt, ist das sich 2 der 3 Schlafzimmer nicht im Haupthaus sondern im Garten befinden, aber auch diese Zimmer sind ebenfalls wundervoll eingerichtet und uns hat es gar nicht gestört.

Beautifully restored building in the heart of Izamal. Comfortable beds and decent shower. Lovely courtyard with many options for relaxing. No problem parking right in front in the street. Really enjoyed the authenticity and care that was put into this historic building. It was like staying in a beautiful museum. And the location was perfect for walking the entire town and coming back for a dip in the pool when the weather got too hot in the afternoons. We debated coming to Izamal and it ended up being the most picturesque place on our entire trip.

− The heavy wood doors and windows bang sometimes in the wind and we had no way to close some of them due to them being original. But that was a minor disturbance in an otherwise beautiful place that was also an excellent value.

Jaw dropping beautiful property with lush garden and comfortable rooms. Barking dogs detracted some.
