A stunning, beautifully restored apartment in an ideal location with exceptionally thoughtful hosts.
10.0Completely refurbished to a very high standard with brand new furniture and appliances throughout, yet full of character in keeping with its heritage. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped, with a washing machine, air conditioning, fully stocked kitchen, and thoughtful touches including Easter candles and chocolates left by the hosts. The location on Constantine Palaeologos Square next to the New Fortress is ideal, quiet and open at the edge of the old town with a restaurant courtyard below. We happened to be there for Greek Orthodox Easter and were able to take part in two wonderful Corfiot traditions: pot throwing on Holy Saturday morning, where locals hurl clay pots from their windows to cast out the old and welcome the new, and the midnight candle-lighting ceremony marking the resurrection, where a single flame is passed through thousands of gathered people as the church bells ring. The hosts had anticipated this and left candles ready for us, which was a genuinely special touch.
