− When we arrived the keys were nowhere to be found. We then discovered the doors to the property were wide open, so there was zero security. The property was filthy throughout - the garden clearly had not been given any attention for some time with a stain which looked to be vomit on the steps, and bird poo and cobwebs everywhere, the kitchen floor was stained all over, the beds had mattresses that were black, with blood stains on the sheets and multiple stains on the bed frame, there were multiple coffee stains on different furniture etc. The photos used are clearly old, as the property is in a much worse condition than advertised. We could not even stay a single night. How Booking.com allows this I do not know.

We had the most wonderful stay at Cartrefle! We booked it last minute as I had a few weeks off before starting a new job and I've been coming to Newport since 1976 and wanted to enjoy a lovely few days of peace and rest in a lovely cottage. And we couldn't have asked for more! As soon as we arrived we felt instantly at home and were super impressed by how the cottage had been renovated and also how clean it was! It was the cleanest cottage we have ever stayed at and it was beautifully decorated throughout. The beds were so comfortable and the bedding was luxurious, as were the towels. It is a spacious cottage but yet still feels cosy and a nice warmth to it. As we were there in January, we enjoyed having the wood burner on every night to relax to after dinner. The location is perfect - you are 2 minutes from the Nevern estuary and only a 10 minute walk to the Parrog and only 5 minutes to the shops and the pubs. Yet it still felt quiet. You can park your car in the safety of an enclosed area with a gate, which is great for safety but also convenience and unloading etc, rather than have to park in a public car park like with some cottages in Newport. So the parking is a real plus too. It's a perfect location for any one - whether it be walking, cycling, swimming, eating out. We messaged the hosts once (as wanted to extend our stay by 1 night as it was so lovely) and they replied within an hour. In summary, a perfect stay. Thank you so much!

− We had the email saying the keys would be in the back safe box but they weren't there, but luckily we looked in the front safe box and they were there! Other than not much else to report on, it's a wonderful place to stay.

Very comfortable house to be in and sleep in. Invigorating shower and bath. Lovely decoration. Great location for walks, the beach and the village.
