Awful. Place not fit to rent so don’t !

1.0

It could be lovely if the owner looked after it, resolved issues raised and hired a proper cleaner. Until then DON’T BOOK IT !

The side door to enter the property was broken at the bottom so not a great first impression. Courtyard unkept and full of weeds. On entering the property smelt stale and of tobacco. It felt very dirty and unloved. The kitchen worktops and sink were not clean and the oven controls were filthy and covered in food / grime. Not enough cutlery for 3 people- only 2 forks !? Not that we would have eaten in there or cooked as it felt so dirty. Loads of junk mail and post left inside the unused front door. Upstairs bathroom was ok but plug holes were filthy. Beds had been hastily changed and pillows just chucked back on beds. Checked pillows - they were disgusting inside the pillow cases. Stairs very steep and carpet not fitted well to them so quite dangerous. Shower kept tripping fuse so clearly an electrical problem - can’t be safe ? Could hardly open front windows to let some air in/ smell out. Called owner who said he’d opened them earlier so should be able to open. Mentioned it wasn’t cleaned properly - he said he’d done it himself and thought he’d done a good job ! Also advised drawers broken - yes he knew but “ forgot “ to fix them. He asked if we wanted to cancel but with nowhere else to stay at short notice we had to stay. Went out and bought pillows, bleach, febreze fabric spray etc just to make it liveable for a few days. I don’t think this place is fit to be rented out but can’t get hold of anyone at booking.com to report this to. Will keep trying. Also think the numerous high score reviews are fake to get the score up as it has so many poor reviews but none of the issues are being dealt with.

Good be great but needs some TLC and a deep clean

3.0

Comfy lounge. Nice outdoor space. Heating works well. Shower worked fine. Received instructions on how to access property.

Front door still broken. Kitchen sink and draining board are dirty and full of limescale. No washing up liquid. Not enough cutlery. Double Bed is broken and supported on a stool. Sheets and mattress were stained. Bathroom was dirty, especially shower screen and plastic runner on the bottom of the door. No soap in the bathroom. I messaged and queried this with the host before arrival and was told everything was fine now.

Good location, lovely old building.

5.0

Location good. Loved the building.

Mattress, bedding, blinds do not block the light, heavy traffic noise, check there is enough cutlery and that the previous occupant has washed up properly, supply bathroom floor mat and rubber mat in bath, couldn't use bath as no efficient plug, needs a handle to help get out of bath, advise people that entry is by the side door behind the gate, run out of washing up liquid, I thought there would be toiletries like hand soap in the bathroom, fridge needs defrosting, cobwebs, attention to detail around taps, front of oven knobs etc. This property has so much potential, gorgeous building, needs TLC.

Great for visiting Diss and the surrounding area.

6.0

Location great for visiting Diss town centre. Quirky, characterful house. Comfy sofas in the lounge. TV in the main bedroom as well as one in the lounge. Nice courtyard at rear of house with seating.

Side door quite difficult to open. The bottom has come off and was in the courtyard. The house had a few cobwebs. It could do with a deep clean and freshen up. I found the bed hard and uncomfortable. The shower did cut out twice. Others in reviews have mentioned this. I think the cottage is a little overpriced at nearly £100 a night.
