Pleasant stay in an unusual accommodation.
6.0The host Rose was very pleasant and tried very hard to make sure that we had everything we needed for our stay. She was easily reachable during our stay when we had a question. Check-in was easy and there were several videos to assist with the facilities. The location of the venue suited our needs as we were visiting West Wittering beach. The fact we could stay with our 2 dogs at no extra charge was a bonus.
− Unfortunately, the main property is undergoing building works so the site had evidence as such, including a skip. The grounds around the converted horse box needed a good tidy up. Some of the garden furniture was broken. The chickens next to the horse box made sitting outside unpleasant due to the odour. The noise from the main road impacted on our sleep.
A place where you have to wipe your feet on the way out
1.0Nothing
− Filthy the shower was just warm no proper toilet the place was just a mess
Converted horsebox in a garden
6.0Our host,Rose, was amazing and really tried hard to make our stay a comfortable one. She sent us brilliant videos showing the location, parking, how to use the water, chemical toilet etc. The bed was comfortable. A lot of equipment was provided within the van.
− The low scores are a direct result of staying in a horsebox in the winter during very bad weather. The van is solar powered but that wasn't providing sufficient power. Rose hooked it up to the mains so we had light and heat but the water pump wouldn't work and the fridge didn't function. Rose let us use a bathroom in the house which was very kind. We paid more for this experience than for hotels with breakfast so it was disappointing but memorable. I'm sure that in warmer months it could be quite charming
Good value and novel property with a friendly host
9.0It has novelty, being a converted horse-box with a chemical toilet. The location was handy to the Fishbourne Roman Palace, two pubs, bus and train stops.
− It was a moderately long walk to the supermarket. The train station was small and only had one train per hour.
Shabby chic taken to a new level
8.0Loved the quirkiness of the hideaway, outside sitting area and the very dog friendly approach Welcome and helpfulness of our charming hosts and their dogs Fully equipped and some! Very comfy bed Secure bike storage Extensive dog walking areas within walking distance of the hideaway Choice of pubs/restaurants within 5 minutes walk
− Maybe too much stuff in the hideaway Traffic noise
