2.0I booked a room maybe 4 hours in advance, and they seemed surprised when we arrived. I’m not sure what would have happened if they hadn’t driven up when we arrived, but the moment we went into our room, we wanted to leave. Stale cigarette smell, bedsheet as a curtain, very old ac with paint on it. I didn’t even want to use the bathroom, but when I thought about it, there was stuff in the toilet- maybe tobacco? We got a room somewhere else, and tried to return the key. No one was available to open the door or answer the phone. The voice mailbox was full. We put the key in the room so we could get on with our day. I think I would have smelled like that room after a few hours. Maybe they don’t get many bookings and it’s mostly short term living, there was a no vacancy sign when we arrived. Call them first, and ask to see the room first, and don’t book through hotels.com (they panicked when I told them that I had) icky
