Could be so lovely but .... more of a nightmare than a dream as it is.
4.0A lovely location and a spacious modern house. Very quiet and with really lovely views. Reasonable cooking facilities but could be a lot better. With a little more care and attention to detail this could be a really lovely holiday house. We wanted to love it but overall we were rather disappointed.
− The stairs up to the bedrooms had no handrail or guard making them quite dangerous, especially for my wife who has balance and some mobility issues. With the bathroom being downstairs this meant we could not possibly use the comfortable looking double bedrooms on the first floor. The hosts kindly made up the two single beds in the downstairs bedroom, however the beds were incredibly uncomfortable so after the first night we moved onto the couch, not great! There was a four burner hob but no toaster, oven or microwave, however there was a reasonable selection of cooking utensils so we managed to cook dinner. However when we came to eat our dinner the first evening we found there were no normal knives, only 3 different sharp knives for food preparation. We messaged the host to ask and were initially told "it's a cottage, not a hotel", a shock as he had been very pleasant when we arrived. We insisted we needed something with which to eat our dinner and he sent round his cousin with two very acceptable knives and forks for us, but this was not a pleasant experience. Also though the lighting in general was more than adequate there was no light near the cooker, which made cooking a little difficult. The gate into the property is not a gate, just a large, very heavy piece of fencing attached to a post with wire. We were told to keep it closed and it was quite an effort to open and close it each time we went in or out. Final point, the drive up to the house is really very bumpy and muddy and quite norrow in places. I'm glad we had a 4x4.
