Noisy and not suitable for a family

The apartment itself was spacious and there was a decent kitchen setup (for utensils, cooking options, storage etc.). The bed itself was comfortable and shower room was a good size and condition. Free Parking is available on the street. It is a "first come" basis but luckily we weren't planning to use the car much and got the last spot we could find in the locality and didn't move the car. It covered the basics well and would have been a good option for a couple on a budget.

− This property was not suitable for a family. The main problem was noise. From about 7pm until 1am each night of our stay, another resident slammed doors every 15-30 minutes (sometimes literally shaking the building) which woke our infant up every time causing increasing distress (despite using a white noise machine). This resident lives there so this is not a temporary issue. It would appear that the people running this apartment knew about this because they provided complimentary ear plugs. Unfortunately, these are not suitable for an infant. We visited during a heat wave. We were aware the apartment did not have air conditioning but the temperature in the apartment never decreased below 26 degrees during our stay even at night. A linked problem occurred, by having the windows open we could hear all of the noise from the front and the smell of people smoking was not great as the bench outside the front of the property seemed to be permanently occupied by someone smoking. At the back, someone else had a balcony and smoked on this every night which entered the bedroom. Location-wise, you are quite a trek to the centre and there are no decent pubs or restaurants within 20 minutes walk. Not so much an issue for us but something worth noting. It is important to note Linens are not included and charged at an additional 35euros. This is for one towel each (no hand towels) and bedding. While body wash, shampoo and conditioner is provided, hand soap is not for the toilet. Most everything else in the apartment is chargeable (except the tea and coffee). The booking.com listing says a high chair is provided. This is only provided on request and is not available within the apartment so we didn't have this for our first night.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, the location was perfect, and there was free parking in all the surrounding streets. The communication was friendly, clear, and helpful throughout our stay. Everything was truly amazing—we had a wonderful time staying here and would happily recommend it!

Un séjour réussi à Oostende !

Nous avons découvert un superbe appartement lors d'un weekend. Il est fourni avec une multitude d'objets utiles au quotidien pour le séjour. Nous nous sommes senties comme chez nous, y compris notre chien qui a eu droit à un panier confortable. L'appartement était très propre et fonctionnel, nous n'avons manqué de rien et recommanderont le logement à nos proches. Nous pouvons trouver aisément des places de parking dans les rues avoisinâtes ou sur la petite place où se trouve le logement, bref tout était PARFAIT !

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We spent a few nights at Zilte Stilte in Ostend and would happily return. As frequent travellers, we usually look for four things: cleanliness, comfort, location, and value for money — and this apartment scores highly on all of them. The apartment feels much more thoughtfully equipped than most holiday rentals. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the little extras made a real difference. Free parking right in front of the building was a huge bonus, especially in a coastal city where parking can be difficult. The Wi-Fi was excellent, and the peaceful atmosphere made it easy to relax after a day exploring the coast. We travelled with a dog and were pleasantly surprised by how pet-friendly everything was. Unlike many holiday rentals where pets are simply allowed, here they are genuinely welcomed. The hosts provide dog bowls, treats, a comfortable dog bed, a leash, and even a dog backpack/carrier for smaller dogs. The complimentary dog biscuits were a lovely touch and immediately made our furry companion feel at home. The location is convenient: the beach, shops, public transport, and the city centre are all within easy reach. What stood out most was the value for money. The apartment offers many amenities typically found in more expensive accommodations, yet remains affordable. It's easy to see why guests speak so highly of their stay here. If you're looking for a comfortable, well-equipped, pet-friendly base to explore Ostend, Zilte Stilte is an excellent choice. We would definitely stay again.

Prachtig en lichtrijk appartement. Het grote bed en het linnen waren zeer proper en verzorgd. Aan alles is gedacht: van flesjes water naast het bed tot oordopjes. Ook de communicatie verliep zeer vlot.

This apartment is truly superb. It stands out in every aspect — from cleanliness to communication and amenities. It is very well equipped and even offers free parking, which is quite rare in Ostend. The beach is only a 10-minute walk away, and the apartment also provides drinks, wine, and snacks, which is a lovely extra touch. The king-size bed was perfect for us as an older couple, and the neighbourhood is very quiet and peaceful. Having parking right in front of the door was also a big plus. For this price, it offers excellent value. Keep up the great work, we will definitely be back soon!
