A neglected apartment in a magnificent location in the heart of Rome

The apartment is in a wonderful location, just a five-minute walk from the Pantheon. Unfortunately, that is practically its only advantage.

− Windows and noise: Old single-glazed windows with no proper seals offer virtually no protection against cold, wind or street noise. The noise can make a decent night's sleep impossible. There is no safe. Damaged flooring: The parquet is loose, badly damaged and lifting in several places. Pieces can stick to your bare feet and cause injuries. This is a genuine safety hazard, not just a cosmetic issue. Beds and cleanliness: The bed is extremely dirty underneath and propped up with books, apparently for years. The mattresses should have been replaced long ago, and the pillows are in an appalling condition. Heating and temperature: You may either freeze or become unbearably hot. The owner has various explanations for why the heating is not switched on. When it is finally turned on, the apartment can become excessively hot, with no thermostats to regulate the temperature. Bathrooms and hot water: There is no hot water at all in the washbasin in one bathroom. The shower temperature fluctuates unpredictably between cold and dangerously hot, creating a real risk of scalding. The taps and fittings are outdated and need replacing. Doors: Every door squeaks loudly. Even getting up at night can wake everyone in the apartment. Rubbish disposal: Guests are expected to separate their rubbish and carry it to a collection point near the square, yet there are no proper rubbish bins or containers in the apartment. We even found rubbish left by previous guests. Wardrobe: One wardrobe door has fallen off and has simply been left leaning against the wall beside the table. It could easily fall and cause an injury. Overall condition: The apartment is desperately neglected and in need of substantial investment, possibly a complete renovation. It appears that virtually nothing has been spent on maintenance for decades, despite the owner reportedly receiving €12,000 per month in rental income. Rather than resolving problems, the owner offers excuses.

Très central et proche des sites les plus notables de Rome. On peut aller partout à pied. Le logement est très calme dans une cour intérieure. Logement très propre, bien équipé, confortable. Aucun bruit. Dans la rue même et à quelques mètres, plusieurs restaurants, une boulangerie ouverte jusqu’à 22h. Excellents échanges avec le propriétaire. J’y retournerai sans aucune hésitation.

8명의 대가족을 수용할 수 있는 좋은 숙소였습니다. 호스트가 친절했고 짐도 미리 맡아주시고 체크아웃하고 짐도 또 맡아주셨어요. 수건이 부족한 것 같아 물어보았더니 바로 응답해주고 가져다 주셨습니다. 부엌에 전자레인지도 있고 전기포트, 키친타올까지 구비되어있어서 간단히 아침을 조리해먹기도 편리했어요. 호스트가 소통이 잘 되어서 불편함을 바로 해결해주었어요.

− 숙소 위치가 일층 반? 정도에 위치해서 캐리어를 들어서 옮기는 것이 조금 불편했어요. 안쪽 방 화장실은 수압이 많이 약합니다. 침대 매트리스가 약간 꺼짐이 있는 것 말고는 크게 불편하지 않았어요. 숙소 근처에 모기가 많아요.

Excellent location. Everywhere we wanted to go was very close by. The property was spacious enough for four people. Christian was very nice and helpful.

− Everything was great except for the mosquitoes, but they were only around the elevator, not inside the house.
