Cockroach infested nightmare!

− A nightmare all around! Cockroach infestation, broken refrigerator and furnitures, an untrustworthy host. We had a reservation for six days and we left after the first night. When we got in, there were several problems with the house, most importantly the fridge was not working- it must have been in that condition for a long time because the water in the freezer had mold. The kitchen utensils had dead cockroaches in them. When I moved the vacuum cleaner in the bathroom, the entire floor was covered with dead cockroach pieces. When we contacted the host, he initially denied all these problems--which we would come to learn is typical of his attitude-- but then when I shared the photos, he sent me texts saying "wow! that does not look good" without offering a real apology and instead inviting us to lunch at his restaurant. He said he was going to get the fridge fixed but that did not happen that day and all our food got spoiled (we went shopping before checking in). In the evening, when we got back to the house, cockroaches greeted us. They were everywhere, running around on the kitchen counter, walking on the walls. We texted the host with videos, saying we wanted to cancel our reservation and check out the very next morning as it was too late to get another place. He said, "I completely understand. Let's talk about the refund." Since then, we have been trying to get our money back. We were charged for the entire period and booking.com has not been responsive so far despite all the evidence we provided. The location of the property is great but it's not worth this nightmare.
