− This was my worst ever experience with Booking.com. The photos and descriptions of the apartment presented a much more spacious area than what we encountered in reality. It was obvious from the photos they posted and what we saw upon arrival that they had moved the furniture around to create the illusion of space. They claimed to offer a dining area on the patio, but a tiny table for one person with two chairs in a 40 cm wide corridor outside is NOT a dining area. But by definition I felt scammed. Upon arrival, we found ourselves cleaning the floor and countertops because there was dirt and small insects running around everywhere, even in the kitchen and on the sofa (see attached photo/video). It was itchy to sit on the couch, which was our first warning. The WC emitted a terrible sewer smell, and there were cockroaches everywhere in the entrance hall of the building block after opening the door downstairs. If they know this is a problem in the area, at least put out traps or insecticide! Moreover, the apartment was situated in what felt like the worst area of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with drunks and junkies everywhere—though not dangerous, they were constantly rummaging through trash and urinating on the streets, leaving an unbearable stench of urine in the air that made it nearly unbreathable. The photos promised some fruits and "welcoming" snacks, but we arrived to find nothing—NOT EVEN soap in the shower. The toilet paper and towels had thick black hair everywhere on them. The apartment itself was actually an attic "remodelled" with a small kitchen, bathroom, and wall bed, and it had absolutely no air conditioning (which we were aware of) as well as NO ventilation system at all (there was a small air fan, windows were extremely thick trapping all the warmth inside!). It was unbearably hot inside, with temperatures reaching higher than outside. We had to leave the door open to let air in as it was cooler outside!...
