Peaceful retreat close to Wind Cave, Custer SP, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Mickelson Trail

9.0

Quiet location. Stars shine bright here. Home warmed by earth. The back-half of home mostly underground up to windows. Large private gated dog enclosure. Great communication. Very close to downtown Custer but in country. Numerous deer, even a bluebird. 3 bedrooms 2 bath inside main home. 2 more beds above garage with game room ( no bathroom here). Even with a couple issues I would recommend this location-enough beds for all our guests. We participated in Michelson Trail bike ride. Some of our companions have been on numerous cycling events - this was one of their favorites. Perfect location

Main concern is there was no handle on inside door above garage for guest to exit. Guest needed to pull on lock to leave upstairs. Company was notified. Originally we couldn’t find smoke detectors (we did find them, but hung vertical above door (not good airflow) There was initially no dishwasher pods, just empty bag and no kitchen towel. There was about an 1/8 of a bottle of hand soap in kitchen. Most people fill soap and supplies before guests arrive. The notice says they have enough supplies to get started-a little disappointing in low initial supplies of hand soap and dishwasher soap in a busy kitchen. We never used the grill. It was dirty according to one of our travel companions. It seems a lot of Airbnb rentals have dirty grills, so we weren’t surprised . Still if the handle is placed upstairs to exit the room, then I would recommend staying here.

Overall, a fantastic stay and super close to town but far enough away for peace and quiet.

Door code was provided early. The hosts are very responsive to text/messaging. Its an easy drive for about a mile on a good dirt road. We got nine inches of snow overnight. The roads were plowed the next morning and the property was plowed and shoveled by noon. Everything worked great and the beds were very comfortable.

Its an older property and some of the bathroom outlets didn't hold things like hair dryers plugged in while moving around. It wasn't that big of a deal but wanted to put something in this box.

Very cozy home.

Nice location. Easy to access.

Coffee pot didn't work and the fan in the bathroom by the kitchen is very noisy.

Was very relaxing and very pretty. Liked sitting with coffee in am and watching the deer.

would of preferred a tv in the living room area. We do not like to lay in bed to watch the tv. We did spend a lot of the time traveling but at night we wanted to sit and watch. Also you might put placards next to switches etc so easier to know what turns on what. Just a thought.

Very good

8.0

Comfortable beds. Nice, big kitchen. Great outside patio, fire ring area.

Booking.com advertised air conditioning. There was none. To get to the 4 th bed room, you had to either climb a rock wall or walk completely around the garage to get to the staircase that led to the room above the garage. Totally inconvenient. That room did have air conditioning, the ONLY space that did.
