Well decorated

Me and my partner came for 4 nights with our dog, and we arrived through a heat wave which made the stay quite difficult due to the heat. On the surface the property is well decorated and furnished, and well equipped, but there is an issue with cleanliness in area's, On arrival we found the toilet seat needed to be cleaned, the fridge had a vile smell coming from it, the pull out tall kitchen cupboard had not been cleaned and needed wiped down before putting food in it. The yard which they call a courtyard is disgusting, its filthy with some dirty large plastic tub, green walls and just very unpleasant. And there is no garden, which is why I booked the property, and the garden view is metal sheds. The bathroom is a nightmare, I'm disabled and trying to get in the shower is hard enough, getting out is almost impossible, I ended up hurting my back which left me in agony for our stay, there no railing to hold on to and water just splashes everywhere. And god knows when the fan was last cleaned. The kitchen is very well equipped but there is no kettle, its a hot water tap, which is fine but I prefer a kettle, so the option would of been nice. We only needed one bedroom but there's no blackout curtains and the duvet was a 10.5tog which nearly killed us with the heat, so we didn't sleep very well at all, and when I stripped the bed the pillows were ripped and stained, just glad i didnt see them till the day we left, cos i would not of slept on them. Make sure to bring a fan as there is none available. The owners also have a video doorbell which from other reviews is for them to access, which made us both very uncomfortable and something I've never experienced at other cottages I've stayed at before, felt like we were being spied on. We found the house that uncomfortable, with the heat, no where to sit outside, the shower etc we left 2 days early, I wouldn't stay here again and I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Peaceful break away in the mountains.

We enjoyed the location, up in the mountains. The property was clean and tidy and well equipped. We loved that our fur baby was welcome and everything had been thought of. We were warm and cosy. Great communication.

Lovely house but check the fine print

Lovely house with lots of facilities. Not far from a main town and shops. Excellent facilities for dogs and walks nearby. Parking straight outside the house.

When I booked the house it was for myself, my brother and my 2 dogs. I later decided to invite my partner for one night. We were soon contacted after arrival saying I would have to pay for my extra guest as the house was only booked for two people. I then realised the owner must have watched us arrive on the ring doorbell camera and this immediately put me on edge as I felt like we were being watched. I asked how much extra for the extra guest to spend one night as this wasn't made clear on booking and he would not be using any additional beds, towels etc. I was told £30. Not wanting to spoil my holiday i asked how to pay this and was told they would have to get back to me. The next day I was given a link to a monzo account and told the rate would be an extra £40.50. I asked why the change in price and was told that they charge extra per person as they don't charge any extra for dogs. I was unhappy but paid the money after a couple of messages from the owner asking me to pay before checkout.
