An old property with poor cleanliness, unreliable heating, and outdated facilities, making our winter stay extremely unc

− The property is quite old. While the kitchen and living room appear to be part of a newer extension and look much better, the overall facilities were very disappointing. The cleanliness was also very poor and well below what we expected. The rooms did not feel properly cleaned, and the overall hygiene standards were quite disappointing. The biggest issue was the heating. The heat pump/air conditioner would randomly stop working, making it unreliable. There were only two portable heaters provided for three bedrooms, so one bedroom was freezing cold. On top of that, the bathroom heater only blew cold air instead of warm air. With the outdoor temperature dropping to around -5°C, these heating issues made the stay extremely uncomfortable. Unfortunately, our entire family ended up catching a cold because the house simply could not keep us warm. I understand that older properties have limitations, but basic heating and cleanliness are fundamental expectations, especially during winter. I hope the host addresses these issues before welcoming future guests.

Very handy homelike stay.

Very handy location on the route from Christchurch to Queenstown. Small cosy town and the house was also conveniently located. Property was spacious with some outdoor area but wasn’t useful for us being chilly weather.

− Heating was working hard to keep it warm…

Despite only being a 1 night stay, I could see the kitchen was well equipped with all the essentials and more. The lounge and dining furniture was generous and would have provided plenty of room for 6 people to relax comfortably. There is a large yard, which would be good if staying a few days with younger children. There was also some outdoor furniture, although this was not set up for our booking.

− I booked a 3 room house for 3 adults expecting all rooms would be made up. On arrival, the single beds were not made up and when making one of them, the back of the bed was very dusty. In the queen bed rooms, given the time of year, (mid-April) warmer bedding would have been appropriate. While the electric blanket was welcome, a mid-season / winter quilt would have been better than the summer weight one provided. The front entrance could have done with sweeping, as could the back deck area with the outdoor furniture.

The property had a homely feel, felt relaxing on opening front door. House was old but well renovated giving it a new feel. Would love to come back and spend couple of weeks Twizel fantastic plaice to stay.
