− This stay was a nightmare from beginning to end. When I arrived at the apartment I had originally booked, the smell of cigarette smoke was overwhelming and it was impossible to breathe. The host told me to cancel that reservation and said he would book me into another apartment. I agreed, but he never completed the booking, which means I cannot even leave a review for the property where I actually stayed. I hope this comment is visible somewhere because future guests deserve to know what happened. The second apartment was only slightly better. It still smelled of cigarette smoke, the cupboards were dirty, the rubbish bin was filthy, the walls were covered with marks, only two out of five living room lights worked, and the hairdryer was broken. There were no basic toiletries—no soap, no shampoo, and not even toilet paper. At night I was cold and asked for an extra blanket, but none was provided, so I spent some night feeling cold. The kitchen was completely inadequate for a 10-day stay. There was only one frying pan and one dirty kettle for heating water. I asked for a saucepan and some basic kitchen equipment, but instead the host brought another frying pan. When I politely explained that I needed a saucepan rather than another frying pan, the host became aggressive, shouting profanity at me. His behaviour was intimidating, and I genuinely felt unsafe. I have videos documenting both the condition of the apartment and the host's behaviour, and I have already sent them to Booking.com. No matter how inexpensive an accommodation is, guests deserve basic cleanliness, essential amenities, and respectful treatment. None of those standards were met. This was one of the worst accommodation experiences I have ever had, and I would strongly advise other travellers to stay elsewhere.
