Life-Endangering Stay in Smoke-Filled Bungalow

− Our stay at this property for a business conference in Ostrava/Frydek Arena turned into a nightmare. We rented space for 19 people and encountered severe, unsafe conditions that were recklessly ignored by the hosts. Safety Ignored: On arrival, we were taken to a bungalow filled with smoke from a wood burner. The hosts dismissed our concerns, claiming it was “just a bit of smoke.” Despite 2°C temperatures outside, we had to keep windows open to breathe, and the upstairs was over 30°C, filled with even more smoke. The resulting headaches, sore throats, and nausea worsened by morning. Lack of Help: After trying all day to contact the hosts, they finally agreed to light the burner again, claiming “a bit of smoke” was normal. We returned at 1 AM to find the bungalow choked with dense smoke, forcing us into the freezing cold while our belongings absorbed the toxic smell. Host’s Dismissive Response: The next morning, I explained the situation to the hosts, only to be met with disbelief and told the smoke was “not that bad.” They offered no apology or assistance, and we had to attend our conference exhausted, wearing smoke-damaged clothes. End Result: The damage to our items required specialized cleaning costing over £100, and we’re seeking a full refund. I have videos, photos, and call logs showing our efforts to resolve the issue, but the host denied any responsibility. We need action to prevent future guests from facing this dangerous neglect.
