Beautifull location and views, spacious house but lacking amenities and ambiance.

On the Vaal River with beautiful views and with fantastic; morning sun rise and sunset in the evening. The size of the property and house was excellent, plenty of rooms with most of them on-suite bathrooms. Kitchen nice size and convenient. Most of the bedrooms had its own airconditioner that helped for the heating during our winter stay.

− Lacking amenities, for the price we paid we would expect a coffee machine and a working airconditioner for heating the living room. For the luxurious house we have expected a dishwasher, but not available. The temperature at night was mostly below zero degrees during our stay. The host however assisted with small electrical heaters that helped in the combined living room, dining room and kitchen. Th linnen was old and colors have already faded. Bathroom towels, basic and old, needs replacement. During our two weeks stay we had problems with electricity that caused problems with the oven, microwave and gate access that was not working, however this was not the fault of the owner. The barbeque facilities have been inadequate; a Weber kettle braaier was missed (especially when the oven was not operational) and the gas stove outside was not functional. The watercolor was yellow during our two weeks, the host informed us that this is normal (sand particles in the water) but we should not use this for drinking water. There was a lack in ambiance, just some decoration like a portrait on empty walls would make a difference.

We liked the environment, its quiet, peaceful and refreshing. House is spacious and had enough space to pack our belongings. Our host, Rene, was friendly and always responded promptly by arranging a plumber whenever we had issues. We will definitely visit again.

− We were unhappy that the pool was unusable due to its poor condition. Some of the toilets were not operational, but the plumber fixed them. Foul-smelling water was leaking from the roof into the kitchen, this was also fixed. blankets and sheets were not clean.
