The location near the Salt plains is very nice. Overall the rooms are ok for the price, the . However the service has left me absolutely floored - see below. Overall, they want to work with tour groups and function as a resort. They are not the right place for someone who wants a nice hotel but is interested in handling things on their own and wants the flexibility of a hotel. Also remember that what you pay on Expedia etc is not the correct price because you are far away from everyplace else and you will spend on their meals / buffets. Still if you want to stay here, skip the all inclusive package and pay in bolivianos that you change from USD for approximately B9.30-B9.50 and it will come out a lot cheaper. Similarly book your own tours instead of using the ones from the reception. Finally, also make sure you are ready to wait till 3 PM no matter how busy or lightly loaded the hotel may be. I upgraded the review from 1* to 3* primarily because of Fernando who runs the restaurant. He exemplified great service - flexible and trying to help. He had a good dinner Buffett with great dessert treats but I wanted fruit and he made it happen. Similarly at the buffet breakfast, he brought me Chia seeds even thought it was not part of the breakfast buffet. The housekeeping/reception manager would learn a lot from Fernando in terms of how to be flexible and hospitable. My flight got in early and I reached the hotel after stops in Colchani and the train graveyard and upon reaching the hotel, I walked to the salt plains and back. It was noon when I returned. All good so far. I then noticed on the walk to the restaurant - which was not open at noon as advertised - that I was pretty much the only guest in the hotel. Most of the hotel had emptied out. I suggested that they prioritize my room as the first to be cleaned. They refused and gave me a lecture about the policies of the hotel. I gave up and ate at the restaurant and sat near the reception area. They said that the check in was at 3 pm. That time came and went and no one told me that my room was ready. A big tour group came in and I decided to ask if it was ready and it turned out they had it ready but I guess their policies preclude them from coming up to a waiting guest to tell them the room was ready. No one was there to show me to the room - it was up three flights of stairs with no real directions to it. I passed by much of the hotel and while my room is away from the rest of the hubhub - I am glad I am not in most of the other rooms because they will be noisy. I also asked if I could book a sunset tour tonight and they said it was $220. In about five minutes, I found a highly rated tour for $50 instead. I asked for a bottle of water for my walk to the plain in the morning. $4 a bottle. I find there are two complimentary in the room. The cost of a mediocre grilled trout for lunch - $22. Cost of Breakfast : $40. I am fine paying these prices with good service but the service overall is like dealing with the Bolivian government. This place is also far away from anywhere else and so It is a pain for trying to buy other stuff that I may need before I embark on my 2 nights tour of the plains. It is a classic “luxury” resort that survives on tours of people from Europe or USA who are used to traveling in a cloistered environment. Not for someone who enjoys traveling on their own. Don’t book it as someone traveling on your own. To be clear, the staff themselves are pleasant, helpful and friendly. The management believes in its policies rather than trying to be hospitable. At no time did I demand or even request any early check in - just asked if they could try to ready my room quicker since no one else was waiting. The swimming pool is basically a hot tub and not a pool. It has a decent view. The floors of the area are super slippery. Finally, my room’s walls look like they have mold? See picture.

The dome stay at Luna Salada is the best experience in the Salar

Truly a place I want to come back over and over again! We had an incredible stay at Luna Salada, but what truly made it unforgettable was staying in one of the domes. Without exaggeration, it felt like something out of a movie, at times it even felt like we were on another planet, like a Star Wars scene. The dome experience is absolutely unique. Waking up surrounded by the endless white of the salt flats, with complete silence and such a surreal landscape, is something very special. At night, the sky is breathtaking, full of stars and unlike anything we had ever seen before. The dome itself was very comfortable, clean, and well designed, combining this unique experience with real comfort. It felt private, peaceful, and completely immersive. The hotel overall is excellent, great service, good food, and a beautiful atmosphere. The thing I would say is that if you stay here, you really have to choose the dome. It takes the experience to another level. This was one of the most magical places we have ever stayed, and we would recommend it to anyone visiting Uyuni. Also Maritza the person we communicated with was so attentive and helpful!

We stayed at Luna Salada with my partner and friends, and it was an unforgettable experience. Without hesitation, this is the best hotel in the Salar. The location is perfect, with breathtaking views over the salt flats, especially during sunset and sunrise. Sitting in the lounge and watching the landscape change colors was one of the highlights of our trip. The hotel itself is beautiful, built entirely of salt. The rooms were clean, quiet, and well designed. After long days exploring, it was the perfect place to relax (THE SPA AND POOL!!) The staff were very kind and helpful, and the food was excellent every day. We got to try typical Bolivian dishes and learn the history behind every dish! Everything was well organized and made our stay easy and enjoyable. We were very happy with our stay at Luna Salada and would recommend it to anyone visiting Uyuni.

Unique hotel in a beautiful location

It is in a unique location that overlooks some mud flats and off in the distance the salt flats. This was booked through our tour provider and they drove us here. The architecture is very unique and quite interesting. The restaurant is great. The only quibble is the water pressure in the shower, but you are in the middle of the high desert. Great for visit the salt flats.

Nice Hotel, Poor Service

Beautiful hotel in a great location in Luna Salada, and the spa was decent and relaxing. Unfortunately, the food was not very good. What really disappointed us was the service. Communication with the staff was very difficult. Several times they acted as if they understood our questions, but later it was clear they had not understood at all. We also had a bad experience with an excursion booked through the hotel. We asked multiple times about the price and were told it would be 100 Bolivianos, but when it came time to pay they told us it was actually 100 US dollars, which felt very misleading. Overall, the hotel itself is nice, but the service and communication need serious improvement.

One of the few good things was the view from the room. Food pretty awful. Large choice at breakfast but most bland or not very nice; same at dinner. Pastry chef v. poor. Pillows over large and uncomfortable. Bathroom door wouldn't shut. Shower leaked copiously. Basin had no plug so everything had to be done with running water. Tiles super slippery.
