If you would like to experience a 4star hotel 50 years ago, this is the place to be.
5.0The staff were very accommodating, location was fantastic, very convenient for sightseeing. If you are in a more expensive room, kimonos are available, which was a nice touch. The selection of food at breakfast was varied.
− It is a huge hotel, so we had to wait in the lobby for spaces to become available for breakfast, which was very crowded. The room decor (plastic bathrooms) felt tacky compared to the rest of the hotel. It did not meet my expectations of a 4star hotel by modern standards- maybe if we had visited 50years ago…
Just what we were looking for!
10.0We loved our stay at the hotel! It was very conveniently located just a five minute walk from the train in Hakone-Yumoto Station, with elevators to reception, so very easy access with luggage. Easy to get back to the train to start the Hakone circuit, too. Our room was absolutely lovely, spacious, clean, and renovated. The staff was exceptional. And the pool and onsen facilities were really lovely. Definitely more of a large-resort feel, as opposed to an intimate experience, but exactly what we were looking for. The breakfast was terrific, though the restaurants were very expensive beyond breakfast, so we chose to eat out in Hakone, where we found a few terrific restaurants. Overall, a wonderful, restful experience--exactly what we needed after several weeks of travel!
